2018 Midterm Election Thread

Do you not understand what more than 50% of the vote and less than 25% of the seats proves?

They know full well what it means, especially in a state like NC. I'm not saying--and I don't think anyone is--that there needs to a strict correlation between the percentage of vote for the party in the state and percentage of house seats for that party the state, but when they're this far out of whack, it's pretty clear that there are some gerrymandering shenanigans at play. I think, for example, they've split up buncombe county to make sure that Asheville can't get a Dem rep. Knowing what I know about Asheville, it's pretty crazy that that City is represented by Republicans.

Not a damn thing on senate and house seat races Luther! Not one damn thing!
House seats aren't effected by gerrymandering? I assume your ignorance is blissful.

AP analysis shows how gerrymandering benefited GOP in 2016

The analysis found four times as many states with Republican-skewed state House or Assembly districts than Democratic ones. Among the two dozen most populated states that determine the vast majority of Congress, there were nearly three times as many with Republican-tilted U.S. House districts.

The AP analysis also found that Republicans won as many as 22 additional U.S. House seats over what would have been expected based on the average vote share in congressional districts across the country. That helped provide the GOP with a comfortable majority over Democrats instead of a narrow one.

Yet the data suggest that even if Democrats had turned out in larger numbers, their chances of substantial legislative gains were limited by gerrymandering.

Blah blah blah. Again you bitching about gerrymandering tells me you know Repubs are in power. Working as intended.

Will you be as upset if/when the Dems do the same thing? Given the chance, you know they will. It's how politics work. It seems more like your complaining that your side didn't get to do it. When they do, you'll probably fully support it. You're not looking for "fair". You're looking for your party to have an advantage.

Looking like a 40 seat gain now for Dems in the house--and that's even with the GOP's gerrymandering shenanigans. For example, Dems got more than 50% of the vote in NC but less than 25% of the seats.

It’s ok, your party can steal the elections so what are you b!tching about? I swear, you must live a miserable life whining and crying about everything like you’re entitled or something. Are you going through an extended minstrel cycle or what?

No he would not! He’d be here telling us how reasonable and rational it is!

Siap: counting ballot deadline passed, all counties reported their numbers. Desantis still up 33k and Scott up 12k. They’ve started the recount already and that has a dealine of late next week. There’s 20k military/overseas ballots yet to come in but that has a dealine of the 16th. Very small chance anything changes, unless the error of the Broward machines leaving off 25k senate votes is true, which Broward officials have already said that was incorrect.

Military usually vote pretty conservative.

And you said it so emphatically. Two curse words, the use of my name, and an exclamation point to boot.

And blah, blah, blah. is certainly an appropriate retort when forced to face your own ignorance.

You freaking moonbat you idiots have been pulling this “popular vote” diatribe this whole election. I don’t care if all but 49 Dimocrats live in one city. Each state gets two senators and a minimum number of house seats too! Because we are a damn constitutional republic!

And you complaining about gerrymandering is only because you moonbats can’t get your fix it for all of those Dim votes less the 49 throughout the rest of the country to be all that matters.

And if you don’t like “curse words” perhaps you should transfer alumni bases! It seems to work for some of our former players!

You still have no clue as to what's being discussed.

Oh yeah I do. I completely see your whining about gerrymandering and I completely reject it. That tired ass old complaint is always walked out by the losing party. One day Repubs will probably play it again too.

But since you’re playing it now it means one thing.

U LOSE!
