2016 Transfer List:

Smith wasn't a freshmen for us. I don't recall crews having off the chart numbers so hopefully Williams or fulk can get close to his production

I know Smith wasn't a freshman for us. But as a freshman at Iowa he contributed. And by contribute I mean rebounds FIRST. Points are not that important. I think next year's team will score decently.

I don't recall him being a huge rebounder that freshmen year at iowa but he was a heck of a scorer. 15 a game iirc

There's actually a pretty decent difference in the PPG department which was your chief complaint about Giddens.

Glad you brought up the #s about these guys.

The numbers show Alexander was actually a more productive player this year than giddens in most of the stats.

Giddens played 18min a game while Alexander played 12. When comparing the 2s numbers you must adjust those numbers to compare apples to apples.

So adjusting Alexander's numbers to play the same 18 minutes Giddings would only be a slightly better ppg player. The rest of the stats significantly favor Alexander or are a wash with a few very interesting stats

Both playing 18min
Giddens Alexander
3.8pts. 2.55pts
3.6rebs. 4.8rebs
1.48 OffReb. 2.22OffReb
1.5blocks. 1.5blocks

And the most interesting stat that tells me giddens would have huge problem playing for Barnes

3.27fouls. 2.5fouls

So Alexander is clearly a better rebounder, equal shot blocker, slightly lower scorer, and much much more controlled as a defender

Pass on this kid and live with Alexander until the 2017 class gets here

Does the competition matter? What about the system and team? The coach? Etc. etc. etc.

It's easy to make averages but you leave a lot of critical factors out that are impossible to quantify.

It's not as black and white as you would like it to be.

Ohs SOS and ours were very closely rated to each other. Both right around 50.

As far as coaches goes one thing is sure. Giddens wouldn't have played 18min a game for Barnes with all those fouls he committed. He was whistled for over a 100fouls playing that little. Pretty wreckless defender it appears

Isn't it interesting though, that Giddens got 18 mpg playing behind a guy who is leaving early to go to the NBA, and Alexander got 12 mpg playing behind Derek Reese? That is perhaps the most telling stat. And I like Kyke Alexander's potential.

Yep good point but the numbers tell us a lot about how productive his play really was. Probably why he is leaving

Extremely poor move by Barnes winning 13 games and still not getting more developmental time for his one and only rim protector

It's also interesting the only 2 signees that Ohio state has are both 5s.

Seems they were prepared for this kid to leave

If you watched Daniel last year, you could tell he has a huge amount of potential. The game against uk he caused them a lot of trouble.

What question?

Dylan Osetowski is a transfer from Tulane who will have to sit out a year and will have 2 years left, Tennessee is one of the schools recruiting him..:

6'9" 255lbs as a sophomore: 32.4mpg 11.3ppg 8.3rpg 1.6apg 1.2spg 44%fg 27%3pt 68%ft

Pass

Not sold on a mid major being the end all be all.

Now if you are telling me Barnes can't recruit at a high level here then sure take him

Question...let's say the Vols add no posts in '16, they add a big guy ranked 75-100 in the '17 class (as their centerpiece), what kind of numbers would you expect from his as a true freshman?

I would expect Alexander to be a adequate roll player where we could ease that kid along. If the 16 class is a hit(if they aren't this program is going to hell in a hand basket), then Alexander and a fresh could get this team into the tourney as a 8-12 seed.

The next year would be the year where we could make a sweet 16 run with the right "center piece"

So to answer your question.

You can keep posting 5star stats all you want but what the hell does that prove when Alexander, Carmichael, and Owens stats would fit right in with the bottom half of that list?

If you really want to prove something look up the numbers of all the 4stars from this year.

If NONE averaged
20min
6pts
4reb
1 block

You might make a good point

so a 4 star senior is the same as a 4 star freshman? Ok then.

I was talking about freshmen just like you asked.

Syracuse, Louisville, and KState all had 4star players outside of the top 50 producing with the numbers I posted.

Zero reason we can't do the same.
