2016 Transfer List:

I've already addressed the recruiting, I don't think he's gonna be bringing in elite classes. The evaluator and developer only further proves my point, a guy typically doesn't get morphed overnight from a 75+ ranked guy to a NBA draft pick, that typically takes some time and effort, even more reason for those kinds of guys to be brought along and not just thrown in and have posters expecting them to put up 5* talent numbers right off the bat.

I think Alexander can develop into a SEC big, he wasn't as a freshman and he likely won't be as a sophomore, ideally he will be relied on as ~15mpg guy.

And Alexander is a better rebounder and equal shot blocker to the top 50 kid we are discussing. Also plays without putting the opponent on the foul line nearly as much.

Both likely end up being solid players down the road but not elite

And Giddens is the better scorer, he also happens to be 6'10" 235lbs, something Alexander clearly is not.

I'm not claiming Giddens will be elite, but I think there's a good chance he turns out better than Alexander. I have also said it's possible both guys could be on the floor together, right now we don't have that option with our post players. Alexander would be a junior and Giddens a RS sophomore, that gives a good foundation in the post where guys in the '17&'18 classes could develop and not be heavily relied upon early in their careers.

Simple question, if Kyle Alexander transferred tomorrow, would he have similar schools as Giddens has pursuing him?

I don't see 2 bigs playing together for the roster Barnes seems to be building

Depends on if the Kentucky's of the world are really an option for this kid. I doubt they really are

Well Barnes has loved playing 2 bigs in the past at Texas, and has said he would like to here, obviously this years roster made that difficult...I don't think he's suddenly become a small ball forever coach.

Kentucky wanted him coming out of HS, I would guess their interest is pretty legit, he's supposedly cutting his list down to 5 or so next week, we'll see who's on it. Still though, Florida/Georgia/Mississippi State are all on that list also, how many SEC offers would Alexander get? All he had was Tennessee coming out of HS, so are all these college coaches off base on Giddens potential?

We obviously aren't gonna agree and that's ok, I've made my case so to speak.

Interesting on Barnes playing 2 bigs. You would think he might want to get a few on the roster if that's the case

Alexander helped his stocked some this year. Hidden hurt his. The gap between how the two are perceived has closed

Thus the pursuit of Yurtseven, Giddens, Osetkowski...he wants to add size but he's not gonna add guys he doesn't feel will fit at Tennessee.

Yes the gap has closed, but IMO Giddens would still be considered the better prospect. I don't recall Owens having near that list of suitors, do you?

Where did Owens go?

Wasn't it a comparable school to Georgia and ole miss?

We didn't offer iirc. He still isn't a take when we have two higher prospects out there.

Yes if Kentucky is a legit choice I agree with you. Again I doubt they are

Just looked, Owens per his dad was pursued by George Washington, Illinois State and St. John's...definitely doesn't compare to the suitors Giddens has, with or without Kentucky.

Best I recall Owens to St. John's was a done deal from the get go. Seemed like a deal that was done before he even announced a transfer

Ok bruin you win

Nah seriously we aren't that far apart here.

Pretty much the only real difference is I trust Barnes is going to make a splash in the 2017 class with a big.

Hard to believe it's me standing up for Barnes here

As far the other things we pretty much agree. Gibbens is more highly thought of but not by as much as before

How the hell would you pass up on Gibbens??? Former top 50 player and will have 3 years of eligibility left. He'll be a RS sophomore that's been in a college program for 3 years. It's a no brainier. Glad we made his list, it would be a huge get!

He wouldn't play this year, would give Cal someone he know will be there in 17-18, should have nothing to do with one and dones like Bolden and Maker.

Allen, not Maker imo. That ship has sailed. And he would still take a scholly, no? No way we take Gibbens if we take someone else.

Yes he would take a scholarship, but UK typically has room, they usually aren't fill and a walk on or two gets a scholarship.

Again, Giddens would give Cal Simone he knows he'll have in 17-18, a luxury he rarely gets, not saying they take him but I think it's definitely something Cal would consider.

Why give Sam Malone a scholarship and not Giddens, it's not like taking Giddens would lower your chances of landing Bolden or Allen.

Anthony Livingston is a new one...

6'8" 230lbs from Arkansas State, immediately eligible graduate transfer.

Last 2 years: 33.3mpg 15.7ppg 9.7rpg 45%fg 29%3pt 77%ft

It's not about Giddens being bad. We just won't have the room. At most we can take one more by my math. More than likely 7 returning, and 5 signed now. Giddens is option 3 at this point if we do have that one scholly to get #13.
