clearly he will be the nominee but I dont think he will beat hillary unless she is in prison by the time the general happens
When it comes down to Trump and Hillary, and the American people see Hillary's face and they see her wearing her Chairman Mao suit every day, Trump is going to win handily. Trump will get millions of Angry democrat votes. It will Not be close.
I voted early for Cruz, and I agree with everything that you said about him. I heard Cruz go on and on after the New Hampshire primary results were in. Boring. Once again, your analysis is spot on. For the record, I will vote for Trump if he makes it all the way.I'm a Cruz guy and will vote for him in Florida. But he has made mistakes and those have hurt him. After Iowa, he should've have done far more to reach out to Libertarian voters in general and Rand Paul voters specifically. Instead, he continued in an overly-narrow focus on evangelical voters.
A large part of Cruz's message should have been about religious, social, and economic freedom and the threat the establishment poses against those freedoms and the Bill of Rights. This message would have been well-received on both religious and secular fronts.
His decision to focus his efforts on the evangelical voter have boxed him in much the same way they got Huckabee in the previous election cycles.
Another thing that turns people off about Cruz is his need to convince people he is the smartest man in the room at all times. This leads to lengthy answers in debates and lengthy speeches after campaigns that people tend to tune out. Trump and Rubio understand the importance of the short sound-byte. Cruz has yet to get it.
The other thing is this: you can't engage in Marquess of Queensbury rules in a hockey brawl. You can put yourself on a pedestal and proclaim yourself above the fray. But that doesn't do you any good when Dave Schultz or Bob Probert shows up to jack your jaw with either his fist or his CCM stick.
You aren't going to win votes in a nasty election getting your ass kicked by the goon in an effort to look "presidential." Your side will feel sorry for you. But that will not win you any extra support. If playing nice won this kind of election, then Ben Carson would be leading in a landslide.

Again - I could see what are referred to as Reagan Democrats coming over to Trump.
That was 35 years ago..have the demographics stayed the same? I remember that time, I was in middle school civics and we talked alot about Reagan vs Mondale..Reagan won every state but Minnesota..I can't see that happening again.
Trump going through his list of groups and saying "I love the poorly educated!" was the highlight of the night.
Is this a problem? Poor people want to be loved & acknowledged. Poor & "poorly educated" people are (imo) pretty nice, and they want people to like them. Especially a rich TV star. Hillary and the rest of the establishment don't want to be caught dead with these people. That's why he is... Winning
