The problem with that is you are immediately painted as scared and coddled by the Republican network...not to mention fox news isn't much news as it is ratings based.. We need a young articulate fiscal conservative to run.. With good values but not heavy focused on God and government... (this coming from a church going Christian) "render unto Cesar what's cesars" most friends I know are casting the vote for bernie as of now.. He speaks for the "new america" I've deleted about 20 from FB already

You get to the core of Bernie and you get a Communist. Here are two videos one of him praising Fidel Castro(1st) and another of him praising the Sandanistas of Nicaragua(2nd)

Not denying those quotes... Just saying none of those things will effect a 25-30 something when they hear him say... Free college, free Healthcare, legalized Marijuana... That's what they care about

You live in a very liberal section of the US probably one of the most liberal.

Outside of the Bible belt that is the logic of a young person...not to mention the African American population in the Bible belt that will never vote for a R...it's simple math.. We're outnumbered and the key swing states have to be won.

I've heard it said on the networks that Donald Trump could very well win the Latino vote that will be a big help. I've given up on the Black vote the GOP would be lucky to get 30% of the black vote in my opinion.

I can give a little background on this opinion as well. I'm a young Republican voter, I grew up in a house with parents that owned a small business. My first opportunity to vote was bush / Kerry.. The indoctrination I have personally witnessed through highschool into college and now as a young adult paints the Republican party as out of touch old people's part. Social media alone in the last 2 elections has completely changed the way people vote. There is literally no one in my age group openly voting red unless there families were Republican growing up. The party need to make Changes towards the future.. focus on things that matter to voters. Otherwise from a basic numbers perspective, it will be difficult to get another Republican in the white house.

Fiscal conservatism is very attractive to a lot of younger voters. Social conservatism not so much. Right now the Republican Party has a lot of the latter and not enough of the former. The opposition to gay marriage, the climate change denial, women's health (not necessarily on abortion, but things like limiting contraception)... that may attract some people, but it alienates many more. They also need to focus on dealing with immigration without coming across as xenophobic as Trump has.

Climate change is a leftist farce to help bring about a more socialistic-communistic society

100%

Alienating moderate voters 101, say things like this lol

To heck with with lick your finger and hold it up to see where the wind blows crowd. If they don't like Conservatives or Conservatism let them vote Democrat. Most of them would be more comfortable doing that. I refuse to worship at the altar of Climate Change and the Socialism that goes along with it.

I know there's a climate change thread, so I'm not wanting to clutter this thread. Climate change denial is just one of the many views that turn moderates and independents away from the GOP, especially with Millienials.

It's a shame Jon Huntsman didn't run the cycle.

That's the problem. Acknowledging climate change shouldn't be made into a partisan issue, although you're free to believe whatever you wish. The extent of our response can be, and I think we're starting to see that discussion take hold. The outright dismissal of it isn't winning over anyone.

Denying it shouldn't be a partisan issue either. The conservatives let the left control the debate on this. It's like I said earlier, if you are seen as a threat to the left they turn their media attack dogs loose. It's time for a smart, articulate conservative to educate the younger voters.

If by "networks" you mean "fantasy land on Fox," sure.

Nominating Trump guarantees a Dem wins the WH.

How exactly would the politician "educate" younger voters when 97% of scientists say humans are causing climate change?

There's nothing inherently conservative or liberal about acknowledging or denying climate change. If the majority of people on both sides believe it to be a threat (which it seems like they do at this point), they will discuss our response to the situation. That's where conservative principles should come in.

What a joke. I'd bet there are more whites on welfare in the south than anywhere else.

Let the wishy washy moderates go to the Democrats where they would probably be more comfortable. The GOP shouldn't go left to appease them

The GOP should move to the center. They don't have to go left. I am registered R, but I find much of the party platform offensive. The D platform is far worse, but if the GOP wants to win the WH they have to become more moderate. It is not what many want to hear, but far right policies are not going to win the swing vote. Stick to your principles all you want, but we'll be crying in our beers watching the ***** getting sworn in in January

Educate the young voters that what the left is proposing as a fix will ruin them financially and fix nothing.
Next time you see a Prius owner, ask him how he likes his coal burner. Climate change.... yeah. We are the worst offenders by a long shot.

This argument isn't made though, as it implies that climate change is real. While I don't necessarily agree, I think this is much better argument than just completely denying it exists.

I think that explanation would register much better with people instead of coming off as anti-science or dishonest mouthpieces for the Koch brothers' interests.

Still sucking up to your gal Hillary. What a moron.

I am I guess one of those who is still not sure who I will vote for. I just don't like the way trump talks about immigrants. I am a legal immigrant, and some of things that trump says is just plain offensive. Once people are US citizen then asking where are you from before answering a question is pretty lame. (trump did this to an Asian american student). I have had my share of racist slurs thrown at me, and I have taken them as few bad eggs in our great volunteer state.

He is going to represent The United States of America! I would not want the person in office to be asking my children who are proud US citizens, "Are you from Korea?"

If I meet any of you in bar, and you ask me the same question that is different, and I will be willing to share where I am from etc! I hope you guys understand my point.
