Yeah I am not a member of the libertarian party and the candidates are usually weird.

Small semantical correction. Libertarians are not isolationists. Quite the opposite. They are non-interventionists. Isolationist implies you keep completely to yourself in every way (diplomacy, trade, etc.) and libertarians are as non-isolationist as you can get in those areas. Trading with your enemy will keep you out of war.

Like McCain and Romney? That worked out so well

Exactly. I don't know how we could run to the middle more than them. Youth voters and minority voters, last I looked, are people. And people have a natural need for liberty, freedom, and self-reliance. We need someone that can articulate this. Once their eyes are open to what a slap in the face liberal policies are they will vote accordingly.

You don't know me. I think I've Made a clear statement by saying the party has to change for the future and move more to the center. Are you dense? I removed people from my life that post ignorant stuff on my social media. For example someone I knew for 10 + years posted a shoot the cops post. And FYI I like rand Paul, have libertarian views and don't plan on blindly voting for a Trump or bush. Funny that you think because I'm "young" il grow up and learn more. Unlike the majority of my peers I went to school with that parents voted for Carter, and are taught that I'm "less informed" because I have conservative values and don't agree with what media and Hollywood think is "right". Sounds to me like you shouldn't judge so much and drop the old "listen son" attitude you think you have over me.

Calm down

Calm down

Ha you were the one that came to me trying to paint me as someone that needs to "grow up" and ignorant to the Republican party. I bet if you actually asked you would see we are probably closer on politics and liberties than apart. My hopeful future is candidates that can compromise more and work together while respecting the Constitution and our rights as Americans

Not even sure what that means.

You painted yourself as someone who needs to grow up. You delete friends regularly because of their opinions.

You stated il "grow up" and see that the R party is a mess or however you put it. Once again I removed several people I wouldn't consider friends but people I went to school with because of ignorant and disrespectful statements they make.. I have plenty of friends I don't agree with politically especially growing up down here but we are respectful towards eachother

Since you're new: You're gonna get ribbed here. Suggesting you should grow up is relatively gentle. I didn't mean for you to take it so seriously. In relation to you leaving the Rs, I didn't mean it as a burn because that's what I did around age 25.

The key is finding a candidate who can attract moderates and bridge the gap between the far-right and the establishment. Rubio is the most capable of doing this IMO.

Let's be real, no one was beating Obama in 2008. I think Romney was the best general election candidate in 2012, but that was a terrible GOP field consisting of lunatics like Cain, Bachmann, and Santorum. He was also effectively painted as detached from the common American, and Obama was still pretty popular. Someone like Cruz (who actually is articulate) won't win in a GE any more than Bernie Sanders will.

I hope Gary Johnson runs again next year. He's a pretty good candidate.

Yeah, he's my ideal candidate. I don't get how you can be a staunch libertarian in New Mexico and be popular. He doesn't pander to the religious right so he never got legs.

After watching the debates, the highlights of the hearing yesterday and the coverage of the candidates by the 3 major cable news networks I have come to a conclusion. This election is 100% about TV ratings, nothing more.

The newstainment industry's wet dream is to have a Trump v Hillary contest with Hillary as the victor. Nothing boosts ratings like Presidential scandal and we all know that a HRC administration would be daily scandal.
