at least he's no communist.

how you can blast ted cruz after having 4 years of a neo-Marxist is just laughable.

You should learn the difference between socialism, communism and Marxism.

Or not, you're still adorable.

I judge the man on his own merits. Forgive me. I don't need Obama standing beside him to come to a conclusion he's a flawed candidate as well. Just 4 years of a neo-Marxist? Who was there the previous term?

I agree. He's a bad choice all on his own.

When compared to Obama I see him as even worse since he's as much an ideologue and divider as Obama is. 4 - 8 more years of division would be an even bigger disaster than we are currently living in.

I really do think he's a dangerous person. His narcissism is quite a bit higher than your normal politician, even one running for POTUS. The grandiosity, seeing himself as destiny. He's scary.

He is no more dangerous than the current resident. They are mirror images of each other.

Both blow goats

I think we get division no matter what happens going forward. I'm pessimistic about the ability of a professional liar being able to unify the parties given the vitriol being spewed by both parties.

Precedents have been set, POTUS's using the Constitution to wipe their ass to get agenda's accomplished is going to be the rule rather than the exception. Too hard to un-ring that bell.

Have you seen his career in the Senate? He has done more to divide and alienate than anyone else in the Senate. The fact that he's managed to anger most of his own party shows a lot. If a man cannot even unite his own party even within the Senate itself is very telling. To achieve even a fraction of what he's proposed it would take a broad consensus of the full GOP as well as even some Democrats. His own party has waffled on several of the issues he mentioned in his speech. He may want to take a step back, repair some damage in relations he has interparty and show he actually has the ability to unite them to pass some legislation that is meaningful. When a guy's reputation is even both barrels at fellow Republicans he's pretty divisive. His speech today? It was no different than John Edwards' "Two Americas" speech. He compares himself to Reagan but Reagan's speeches along this same line were very unifying. Cruz has mastered the artform of dividing everyone and everything into two categories. Many of the religious conservatives will like the distinction but the polarizing tone gets him nowhere in a general election. But like others have said, he will not make it out of the primary.

It will be interesting to see how Paul plays out. Cruz went Tea Party to religious right. Paul will go Tea Party to libertarian (lower and upper case L).

Agreed. I think we've always had division and even tense division. I think your social media, talk radio and television, and other forms of media and communication have made it more visual and apparent. About 25 years ago plus, it was barely on the radio and only in print media. Now it is instant and all over the place. We are a very polarized and divided nation now. You have a band of anywhere from 10 to 30% of the electorate that flows back and forth depending on the issue. This is who the sides fight for. From now on any candidate who even dares look at the middle is labeled a moderate, traitor, milquetoast, etc. The base of both sides drives the nation to the outside edges and it will only keep getting worse.

He is divisive because he has stepped on some powerful toes.

that's what it comes down to grad.

people on here worried he'll be divisive, yet all this 'coming together' has gotten us in trillions of dollars in debt. cost of living risen but wages are stagnate, we're wasting billions on iphones and college for illegals.

cruz wants to make radical changes to help control cost and federal gov spending, I don't see anything wrong with that.

I think it's sad that Americans have become so reliant on the fed gov.

The name Cruz sounds Hispanic, maybe he will get some support through the Hispanic community, who knows. He may ruffle some feathers along the way but I don't think he will get the nomination.
The name sounds Hispanic because his father, Rafael Bienvenido Cruz, was born in Cuba, and fled in the 1950's. Google his father's name and read his story. He escaped from Cuba with $100 sewn in his underwear, and knowing no English.
