2015 Nike concept uniforms

I like the second one for sure, first one would be better with less gray on the jersey and a white power T. I know these aren't official so whatever...

As does Auburn, LSU, Georgia. Not to mention teams like Texas, Oklahoma, and USC.

Ummmm? Georgia?....seriously? They along with Maryland set the standard for atrocious alternates. And they frequently go black jersey as well.

Personally, I believe that an orange helmet, with white stripe, power T's and facemask, would complement a road uniform of white jersey and orange pants very nicely. However, I have seen numerous references to the fact that our shade of orange would be exceedingly difficult to reproduce accurately on a helmet. Why? I have no idea.

As for "subtle" stylistic change in uniforms, that too has been a Tennessee trademark for decades. The degree of change represented therein apparently is not radical enough to please a certain contingent of our fan base or some recruits. The element that has long distinguished our uniforms is our brilliant shade of orange, which is unlike that employed by any other university. Thus far, virtually every attempt at an alternative uniform has sought to minimize, rather than accentuate, that feature.

Although I am sure that it would fall on deaf ears, my personal message to recruits, with respect to uniforms, would be the following: "If you truly want to wear something different, don the Orange and White. Tennessee Orange is the loudest and proudest color in the spectrum of college athletics." How anyone can call it boring and prefer black or gray as primary uniform colors boggles this orange-blooded mind.

As for Oregon, there is a compositional complexity in some of their uniforms that, admittedly, is impressive, but their juxtaposition of colors is, in many instances, positively ghastly.

Rex... I remember a few years back Oregon played someone on TV and had dull gray unis with the bright yellow helmet. They looked like the old practice unis I had in high school. Really cheap.:salute:

Can't wait until we start wearing Nike uniforms. I know several on here won't like this sort of thing but I think they look great and recruits would love it.

Again, these are only concepts posted by @SECFrenzy on Twitter but I thought I'd like to share what's possible with Nike next season.

Wrong tone of orange IMO. And I don't see Nike deviating that far from what we already have. Maybe change the font of the lettering and numbers. I do like the checkerboard sleeves though... I don't see us incorporating smokey gray into our home and away uniforms. JMO... I think Nike will design an awesome alternate for us though. Maybe all gray with orange outline around the numbers, white lettering for names and a gray helmet with a white T... That sounds like a start. But hey I just want the best to come here so if I'm outvoted by the best HS players in the country then by all means....

I'm all about different uniforms, new designs but not a big fan of these at all, too much going on.

Would like to see a orange helmet with a white power T, only make it flat orange, not glossy, that should match up the orange easier.

Either way, it's almost Football Time in Tennessee!!!

Y'all realize that this is just someone's rather poor photoshop job at a concept that is not even endorsed by Nike right? The real jerseys will likely look nothing like these.

They could paint the d*mn jerseys purple but DO NOT TOUCH THE HELMET!!!

I don't mind an alternate jersey or two but leave the helmets alone. There's nothing wrong with them and I think they still look just as good today as they did 20 years ago. The Jersey's that's a different story. The biggest thing that annoys me with uniform changes is they never get the orange the same. Sometimes it's a dull orange and sometimes the Orange seems darker.

One of the selling points for Tennessee's program is tradition. Call me a purist, but I don't want to look at a timeline down the road with pictures of all of the Vol greats and then get to the Jones Era and see a bunch of neon-chromed disco suits. It's just out of place. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and mine is that I think anything but the Orange and White (and maybe smoke) is out of place and silly looking.

Well you should love those uni's pictured then cause they have all 3 of those colors. 😊

I like mixing it up with the uniforms. The recruits love them and if that gives us an edge I'm all for it. I bet there were some that thought the Vol Walk was stupid when it started in 1990 and I bet there were some that didn't like the checkerboard when UT brought it back in the 1980's. And Rocky Top hasn't been around that longer either. Start new traditions.

Volfan1231, I'm sure that DeerPark12 has commented on this many times, but our shade of orange is almost uniquely susceptible to perceived differences in color value which may or may not exist in a more controlled environment. By that, I mean that lighting conditions, fabric type, even the angle at which one orange surface is viewed in relation to another, among a host of other variables, can contribute to perceived differences in color value. Whereas, if you put all of these garments flat on a table in precisely the same lighting conditions, you would not see any difference. That is, if I remember his explanation correctly. Hopefully, DeerPark12 will see this thread and clarify this point.

I have no problem with alternates once a year. I just don't want to go all Oregon with the uniform combos.

20 years - better double that or more -- back to the skinny T's....
