I feel like I have a pretty good handle on the rest of the team, but for one reason or another, I am completely lost when it comes to our secondary. Could you guys give me some info on personnel, depth, ability, and just your feelings about our secondary in general? As for the rest of the units, I feel pretty good about them all (especially WR obviously.) I just want to know what to expect from the safeties and corners this year, as well as who we will see and how they are adjusting to the new scheme. Thoughts? TIA

On a side note, do you think that practicing against the "Big 3" every day will make them improve greatly from the firat snap of the season through BCS BOWL practice?

I'm hopeful bonner will be a shutdown corner. We're due some luck on landing an exceptional cb.

Brian Randolph was a freshman All American last year at safety.

PWag is back at corner where he earned awards as a sophomore and is great in coverage.

Brewer will be back from injury and he's solid at safety.

Everybody else has yet to prove themselves in a positive way besides Eric Gordon sealing the deal vs Vandy.

What about teague i feel bad for him and dont want to judge him but no way he starts this year an coleman i was hoping he could start had high hopes for him.

Depth provided by Moore, Teague, Toney, Gray, Orta and Thomas. In all I believe we are pretty thin in the secondary. Gray will probably redshirt. I don't believe the secondary will be a strong point on defense this year. JMO.

PWag is actually physical for a corner. He just isn't a head hunting safety type, as Randolph is. That kid wasn't scared to attack anybody.

Yes, it seems we are thin most places on D. I do believe the coaching for the secondary will be better. Maybe the new staff will be able to get more out of these guys than last year. There is more talent to work with and more experience and depth for sure. I like the talent we have, but best potential talent is still mostly young and inexperienced. Another year or two of recruiting will remedy this. More pressure from the front 7 will help a lot.

The guys on 247 quoted someone around the program that said don't be surprised if you see a very different Marsalis Teague than we did last year. Not that he will be a shut down corner, but hopefully more of what we saw from his sophomore year. He is a very proud kid and was really bothered by how badly he played last year.

Improper technique was being taught. It was causing problems on the field, in some guys heads, and took away some instinct from some players. It also caused a problem with vocal former db's that played for UT but were taught differently. Lack of speed didn't help. Lanier looked like he had weights in his shoes.

Not trying to be argumentative ... but I think we have started to build some depth in ALL those places. Sure, the back-ups might be relatively unproven, lacking in experience, but that will come with p.t. in games and somebody will step up, I believe.
