A lot of people have been saying 2012 is going to be "the year" for Tennessee football, which it very well might be. However, we don't know what the full schedule will look like. FBSchedules.com has the following listed for 2012:

9/1 - NC State (In Atlanta)
9/8 - TBA
9/15 - Florida
9/22 - TBA
9/29 - TBA
10/6 - at Georgia
10/13 - TBA
10/20 - TBA
10/27 - TBA

And then the outstanding November schedule starts.

11/3 - Troy
11/10 - TBA
11/17 - at Vanderbilt
11/24 - Kentucky

We can safely guess 10/20 will be at home vs Alabama and 10/27 will be on the road vs South Carolina.

I'm going to look into my crystal ball and predict Arkansas at home for 11/10. That leaves 9/8, 9/22, 9/29, and 10/13 free. I'm going to predict an OOC game on 9/8 and 9/22 to take care of the missing two, and I think it's Mississippi States turn to rotate on to our schedule, which means 10/13 would be at Mississippi State. Leaving 9/29 as the open date.

Who would like to see in those two OOC games? I see one push over and one decent team being scheduled. Hamilton said on Twitter during the UNC cancelation that another top tier team was set to announce, so that's something to watch.

next season.

That will be one of the Sept OOC games then. I thought that was supposed to happen. I'm an MTSU alum, so won't get any pleasure out of seeing the slaughter. It's an in-state game that needs to happen though and much better choice than UT-M.

I some how doubt we go to MTSU and I'm not sure if we'll play them two years in a row.

NC ST may be our toughest game on that schedule. O'Brien has them headed in the right direction. Hopefully this will be two top 25 teams.

I'd rather have SC and GA on the road than FL or ARK

Glad to hear the Oregon game will be 2013. I had been thinking it was 2nd game of 2012 season at Oregon. Makes me that much more optimistic for 2012.

If that's the case, then I think I will make hotel and flight reservations to which ever city is hosting the BCS Title game.

Expecting something along the lines of Memphis and UAB, but it would be a pleasant surprise to see a USC or Virginia Tech pop up on there.

10/13 will be at Mississippi State, they rotate on as the 1st Western Division opponent. Fall break does not come into play for road games.

Here is what I understand the schedule to be, although it's unreleased (obviously) as rumors persist that the SEC is going to shuffle the conference schedule up a bit:

8/31, 9/1, or 9/2 - NC State (In Atlanta)
9/8 - 1AA Team or Mid-level Non-Conference opponent (Home)
9/15 - Florida
9/22 - Bye or Mid-level Non-Conference opponent (Home)
9/29 - Bye or Mid-level Non-Conference opponent (Home)
10/6 - @ Georgia
10/13 - @ Mississippi State
10/20 - Alabama
10/27 - @ South Carolina
11/3 - Troy
11/10 - Arkansas
11/17 - @ Vanderbilt
11/24 - Kentucky

First of all, the NC State game may be moved to Thursday Night. Auburn and Clemson are also playing in a Chick-fil-a game in Atlanta that season, one game will be on Saturday, the other on Thursday or Sunday, but likely Thursday. All four schools have agreed to the alternate dates.

I'd imagine, looking for non-conference foes, we'll get another Sun Belt/MAC type team and a 1-AA opponent. The easier of the two will be the home opener after the NC State game.

The other will either be the week after the Florida game or the following week, it will probably depend on what the teams we are trying to schedule have on their schedules.

Mississippi State come on the schedule, and we go there first, as we always go on the road first in those match-ups. Arkansas is at home.

October won't be easy, especially if Mullen is still in Starkville.
