'19 CA QB JT Daniels (Georgia commit)

I just remember me and a friend at work joking about how far he flung it out of bounds when he tried to throw it away.
I remember a story about Johnny Majors chastising Todd Heltonto be more assertive in throwing the ball away. After one weak throw away attempt, Majors walked over picked up the ball, and threw it as far into the stands as he could. Then he glared at Helton and Todd received the message.

This is great.

QB bashing is timeless, it's just that time heals a lot of it. The Dobbs whining was insufferable while he was here 😑
On the other hand, time also puts a shadow on that which was a real deficiency. If Dobbs had real coaching, I have no doubt that he would be a much more effective quarterback now.

This point really enforces my thinking About Kelly.

There was no message board or social media for folks like us to rant and rave about all those picks Kelly threw. Instead he was just a good ole Tenn boy that enjoyed the “protection” of being a fan favorite.

It’s was relentless against Dobbs and will be toward 99% of the QBs the rest of football in Knoxville.

I re watched that brutal game against Texas. Throws a great screen pass and not once did they have to pull him out of the game to get his head on straight.

Would have been a kindness for a freshman against that pass rush.

So, I understand why people want JT Daniels, however, I think it would be a bad move for our current QB room. HB was recruited and obtained for a reason. He won’t want to sit behind Daniels who everyone is saying would be a day one starter if he came to us.

Then I saw @Atlanta VOL saying that it’s a big possibility he does come..... what does that say about our QB room? Obviously I think JG has to go. But for some of the younger guys something going to have to give. Someone will have to transfer.

Just my thoughts for the day.

Pretty sure they've decided to wait till January to decide on what they are going to do about transfers. There was an article on it a couple of weeks ago.

So you are saying that Callahan has wrong information on when they will decide?

NCAA Vote On One-Time Transfer Waiver Could Happen On May 20, Or Could Be Pushed Until January

The article says “could” be pushed until January. But, if Callahan is saying May. I’m sure they are going to vote for it in May.

I can't believe there is still this much discussion about JG and people defending him... If this kid (JTD) can make it to UT, there will be 2-3 better QB's in the room than JG. I scratch my head wondering if I'm the only one that has watched his overall performance the last three years... Say and compare what you want, I know the kid has tried his best, but at this point in his career JG still makes too many costly mistakes every game to be considered the starter. Sometimes it's little things like bad screens or throwing a 5-7 yd quick pass at mach 1, or sometimes it's waiting too long to read and miss open targets. Other times it's the inability to go through his progressions and stare down the primary and almost, or costing us a catch or interception. He is just too inconsistent across the board and a liability every game. Every time the kid drops back I hold my breath still... I respect the kid for trying and giving his all in orange, but there are simply better and safer options at this point, especially if this kid becomes a Vol. If this kid can make it on campus, this program will take a HUGE step forward instantly and at the perfect time as we are trending upward. The focus can then be put on the O line, WR's routes, LB's and secondary, etc... we won't be worrying about the QB position anymore...
Why doesn't Pruitt see it then, he's the one that keeps rolling JG out there.

Yes, but they could still decide to offer a COVID-19 waiver without committing to allowing a one time transfer beyond this upcoming season and still have the vote in January.
