'19 CA QB JT Daniels (Georgia commit)

I think the bottom line is does one believe QBs win games or teams. In Kelly’s case I think his team was natty title talented and he held them back. We all know JGs teams haven’t been talented nor well coached especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Qb's are part of the team....they don't win or lose on their own. they do play a big role.

i'll just leave it at this...if i we were in the school yard and me and you were picking teams to play football at recess, i'd pick AK....lol.

I get what you are saying and agree with part of it. It was an ugly period. But I also distinctly remember Worley having to run a spread O that emphasized zone read - something that he had no ability to do well. They refused to adapt the scheme to their QB's skill set.
I addressed his bad fit in another post but when comparing him as a “we need to complete THIS pass.” QB? The frustrating JG wormkiller thrown with ALL Worley’s armstrength was a regular player. Rick Clausen without the savvy.

It was 2013, not 2011. Correction on my end.

And Peterman started behind an experienced OL in that 13 Florida game and we had guys on that OL that played on Sunday’s. 2014’s OL was god awful, but he had a good line in 2013.

peterman started like one game and transferred..there were players in spots that helped but as a unit they never meshed together... 13’ and 14’ Oline was masked by Dobbs ability to run after they finally took the saddle off the mustang..but when they were forcing him to be a pocket passer was when you seen the Oline troubles but they weren’t much better when forced to do their jobs.

Fair enough. I’ll take JG playing with those late 80s early 90s teams and see what happens.

QB’s can LOSE games. Kelly won many that were lost. Kelly was known as a comeback king. I remember stating that he could lead us back from any deficit...but he would be the reason we were down so far in the first place. I get your point, but Kelly belongs on a list of successful Vol QBs.

I recall the comeback in the sugar bowl and against Colorado for the tie

I recall being plain ass awful against Bama and then the pick that ended the ND game.

any other memorable games I am missing?

I see much worse td:int, ypa, and qbr by Worleybird.

32 tds/13 ints vs 23 td/21 ints.
7.9 ypa vs 6.4

Worley was just that bad 🤣

But JG is just so insufferably bad in the red zone 😑😐

Would be a step forward if someone beats him out, but this year's ol gonna fix our rz problems regardless. Nobody will touch EG or TC for the first 4 yards. A sight for sore eyes 😬

Look at this way..Completion % between the two is almost identical and everyone RAVES about that one JG stat which in my opinion is misleading..JG has played MANY More games than Worley. While JG maintained playing atleast 1 (Full) season here..with many more pass attempts but yet JG barely has more (Total) passing yards playing 3 full season here than Worley did not ever completing a full season the 4 years he was here and the (%) are almost the same. 4Tds and 2 INT’s for JG in a FULL freshman season is just as bad as Worley birds 0 Tds and 2 INT’s in just the 4 games he played His freshman year👀😁 those are facts.

Guarantano has wins against SEC West teams...back to facts.

Glad that science doesn’t exist. You mad crazy effs would’ve destroyed our history. 😖

Head was fine...body wouldn’t let him play QB well. JG has delivered wins. Not promoting him as anything more than that.

Disagree his mental clock wasn’t there same can be said for JG and he has a better Oline than Worley ever did. JG is averaging 180 yards a game here at UT (Total) that’s horrible lol just sayin

Are we looking at the same stats? JG has thrown for 42% more yards on only 15% more attempts.

642 vs 558 attempts (15% more)

5062 yards vs 3556 (42% more)

A far cry from many more attempts and just barely more yards.

Not stanning for JG (not after last year), but those are the stats. He's easily replaceable, but certainly not the worst we've ever seen.

And yes, both were egregiously bad their 1st year playing. I actually have Worley with 1td/3int his 1st year (110 qbr). Worley somehow even regressed his 2nd year 😂 0td/2int his 2nd year playing...and a 97(!!) qbr oof.
