Crompton's problems were the turmoil in the program and his own collapse the previous year. They weren't related to a physical/mental talent needed to play the position.

JG's issue seems to be an innate inability to process reads quickly and anticipate plays. It has been a problem his whole college career but has manifested itself in different ways. Previously the sacks and beatings he took were because he couldn't pull the trigger. His habit of giving up on plays and checking down related to him seeing things too late.

Chaney DID push him. That's why the INT's went up... and the TD's. But he really seems to have hit his ceiling.

Agree completely. Which is why I want a new QB under center Game One of this next season. Adding in his RS year, he's had four to figure it out. What did he do in that 4th year? He regressed as a starter and succeeded somewhat as as a back-up. It is not reasonable to expect him to do any better. JG is reasonably good for 1.5-2 quarters per game. Simply put, he thinks too much or too slow and cannot pull the trigger or read D's well enough to start at QB in the SEC. Nothing proved it more than how bad he stunk the field up after a month to prepare against IU. Enough already.

If we get the opportunity to sign JT - DO IT. Get a few OOC games under his belt including a tough OK game before the SEC starts. Getting a guy with his credentials coming from USC with Tee Martin as his past coach/recruiter and Velus Jones on the field seems like strong move to make. It probably means winning more games.

If anyone thinks that CJP isn't acutely aware of the short leash he is on, pass the acid and crack pipes. He will do whatever legal to enhance his prospects for a long career, here and/or elsewhere.

As it should be. As it must be. I trust this man. His goals and ours run parallel. Regardless of the future, we will look back favorably on his term here.

Let it be a long one.

Some of y’all crack me up with where you draw the line. JG’s a chump. “Agreed.” JG’s a loser we can’t win more than 7 with him. “I concur good chap.” JG’s a chump loser SOB. “Well hold your horses there mate he may be troubled in the head and have no competence whatsoever as to how to throw a football, but by golly he’s no SOB I know personally that his mother is a nice lady of the homo sapien variety!”

Bring me Daniel’s so we can get passed that loser. I will pull back my fingernails if JG starts next year and wins us 8 games.

I don’t “draw any lines” but it “raised some flags”...so I commented. We lose some perspective on this “anonymous” platform and it’s fair play to point it out. Glad it brought you mirth you SOB...I hate you.

As for those potential transfers, the biggest name is quarterback J.T. Daniels. The former USC quarterback and the Vols have had conversations, and Tennessee is one of several schools that Daniels has spoken with along with LSU, Michigan and Oregon. Daniels and his family have not spoken about anything specific regarding schools or a timeline for a decision. Some believe that LSU and Tennessee are more likely possibilities than Michigan or Oregon. Returning to USC isn’t out of the question, either. Daniels could opt to wait to make a decision until later next month when the NCAA is expected to formally announce a one-time transfer rule.

I have been and am critical of JG's play/ability. But the reality is that he could still be the best option... or at least the lowest risk option. He began to manage the run game well late in the season. Management of the O is probably the first requirement though not something easy for us to see.

A great thrower who cannot run the offense effectively is a liability too. That's why I am not as hyped over Bailey starting as a Fr as many are.

Yes by using stats. Besides beating JG by roughly 500 yards, while attempting 100+ more passes, what stats give JTD the edge?

Completion %? Even.
AVG per attempt? JG
Passing yards? JT
TDs? JG
INTs? JG
Rating? JG

So by using actual stats, what justifications is there in saying JTD is a significant upgrade? If Pruitt wants him then I am all for it. But I just don’t see how anyone can definitively state JTD is that much better than JG.

We always want the injured players, and then they try to push that they are better without proof, they either go by stats or they just hate JG. I’m not a JG fan either, but he is better than JT. Sorry not sorry

Ok I will play along. You brought up Burrow and Adrian Martinez. Let’s go with your analogy as dumb as it is. There is plenty of data to prove Burrow is overwhelmingly better.

Burrow: 76%, 5671, 60 TDS, 6 INTs, 202 rating

Martinez: 61%, 4573, 27 TDS, 17 INTs, 130 rating

This just reiterates your stupidity. Burrow was infinitely better than any QB last year by a wide margin. Actual stats prove that. Oh and just to really drive it home, I used AMs last 2 seasons data while just using Burrows one.

So please offer up the statistical data that proves JTD would be an instant upgrade over any QB we have.

So you know, beyond a shadow of a doubt that Tee thinks JTD is better than any QB we have? If so how? How do you know we aren’t looking for a QB right now because the staff knows some guys are gonna transfer?

Agree. Some fans always think the backup or another player is the best option. Is JG a great QB? Nope. I also hate in when people boil down the success or failure of a football season on QB play. Based on actual stats JTD is not an upgrade over JG.

Now if he was to come here and beat JG out? I am fine with that. Honestly I think we could use the transfer spot on another position of need.
