'18 TN DL Greg Emerson (UT commit 7/3/17)

Jackson Sirmon is Peter Sirmon's son. Family moved back to Nashville when he took the MSU DC job. Commitment to Washington is not surprising given Peter coached at Washington for a couple of seasons. Think he is a rising star in the coaching ranks and a good recruiter

We need a big time commit to get past this 5 star heart mockery. Any news on this guy or any chance he pulls the trigger soon?

This kid is pretty good friends with Trey Smith. Hoping that pays off. BUT...I believe this one will be a ride. No info. Just a gut feeling. But I hope I'm wrong.

Hope so to. Need early momentum in this class. Last years momentum was killed when Johnson and Tee decommitted early.

He didn't say anything wrong. The media are a bunch of scumbags selling crap to a hungry audience of negavols. And you are buying into it too. What he said is true. If my son was a player, I'd want him to have a coach that gave a **** about him...like Butch.

You make it sound like we hit an iceberg rather than a bump in the road.

No, we just didn't sign the top talent we wanted, landed some guys, missed on others like Akers and Ray. This class just didn't feel like last years when we added top talent late with Byrd and Kongbo. I think 2018 class can be special but I hope they get going early

No I'm not. My point is, he needs to have wisdom. There are a lot of times where I want to say things, but I no better so I don't. Butch should have leaned from the COL comment. If you remember, I defended him for that. But here is another. The media waits on him to say stuff like this so that they can mock him endlessly. The COL thing still gets play in the media. He needs to be wiser about the things he says for that reason.

The gnashing of teeth is the only thing that makes this into anything

If fans would just shrug their shoulders, the media and opposing fans couldn't get you so riled up.

"So?" Puts out a lot of drama

Like it or not, those ignorant clichés are being used against him. Not to mention how ridiculous and desperate they sound, not only to fans, rival fans, and rival coaches who are sure to use it against him in recruiting, but also to prospective recruits.

I'm fine with Butch caring about kids, but after failing to live up to expectations, these type comments (champs of life, and now this) just sound like an awful attempt to save face for continued underperformance.

I for one, hope they don't start going early. The earlier the commitment the less likely it sticks. We got the depth with the last class, now let's get the top talent and fill our class closer to NSD.

As soon as I get the word I'll let you guys know. I'm sure it's gonna be a while though. I will say this, he's leaning Tennessee, but it's still very early.

Part of me wishes a couple from Tennessee do commit early, and be vocal in recruiting others like Cade Mays is.

Maybe he and few others are waiting to see the product on the field in the fall before making a commitment
