'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Yes, UT looks good at 7th in 2014. Lets consider a moment though Tennessee signed 32 kids while Clemson took just 20.

In 2015 UT landed at #4 signing 30 while Clemson took 26.

In 2016 UT landed at #14 signing 23 kids while Clemson was 11th signing 20.

2017 we are ranked 11th with 23 commitments while Clemson is 10th with just 12.

IMO Butch and his recruiting methods worked at first. I always said I'm not sure it works long term. I felt it would catch up to him. IMO that's what we're seeing play out.

Good info

The only class where Clemson is clearly better than us is this current one and that's because they just went to the playoffs. Let's see where it finishes.

I believe 2016 was better as well. 3 spots higher with 3 fewer signees. My point really isn't Clemson is that much better but the notion you can't honor all commitments you take in big boy football and sign good classes is just wrong. At a place like Tennessee I think we could benefit from it. If Clemson can sell it, so could we. Probably better in fact.

That doesn't fit the narrative.... Plus you have to panic over us taking 3 more recruits than another team in past classes and that causing us to be ranked higher or close to the same!
(But of course that's true up and down the rankings, but ignore that as well)

This notion that Dabo is somehow honorable is laughable. If he cared so much about honoring commitments, he wouldn't send Hunter Johnson to convince Tee Higgins to break his commitment. He's simply employing a recruiting strategy he sees fit for his program. Butch does the same. If you like Dabo's strategy better, that's one thing, but this raising Dabo up to be some kind of recruiting deity is a bit :loco:

It's helping attract a lot of 3 stars.

PW laughed at your little stadium and quaint little campus. What is helping you now is winning. UT wins and they blow you guys out of the water with future 5 stars.

That is the secret. You guys will get beat this year by Georgia Tech.

Only 20 are counted in the rankings.

Using that method on Rivals class rankings:

2014- Tennessee 4th
Clemson 13th

2015- Tennessee 5th
Clemson 4th

2016- Tennessee 15th
Clemson 6th

2017- Tennessee 9th*
Clemson 12th*
(*class no where near finished)

Once again, hardly a superior method of recruiting by Clemson. Plus they could sell winning at this time. Chalk up another win for Butch! All done during REBUILDING a program at it worst point in history! Thanks Butch! Can't wait to see what he does when the big wins come too!

Signing classes of 20 isn't a bad thing. Means you have more kids staying in the program. More JRs and SRs. Coaches are coaching. Promotes stability IMO. Different schools do it differently.

I believe no one has a clue about the 2016 class seeing as though no one has seen them play. To say otherwise is pretty ignorant.

This is not a hard concept to understand but you manage to struggle with it. Dabo does not say "if you visit other schools, you will NEVER attend Clemson on a football scholarship." It's along the lines of "if you visit other schools, consider your spot open and IF the 2nd man on our board wants to commit, we'll take him". They're not gonna replace Feaster in July with a kid they're saving an offer for on NSD if everyone else leaves them at the altar. It's going to be a comparable player.

Only thing I struggle with is faulty logic which is what guys like yourself and Leb specialize in. My response was to a guy who claimed this was Dabo's rule. I revealed not only an example of a supposed exception but I also challenged him to name other examples of kids who Dabo sent packing. I knew in advance that Leb would have zero legitimate answers and would deflect to some random nonsense in an attempt to cover for how clueless he is. He didn't disappoint. And here you come rumbling in thinking you have some sort of gotcha moment, only to confirm once again you seem to not only struggle with the flow of a conversation but that a team you supposedly don't support needs your assistance in defending. My advice is to find a nice Clemson board. Maybe you and Leb can get a couples deal. And both of you can fit right in and join the inane ramblings of all of the other morons that populate that board.

Well I'm not really interested in starting my own recruiting service so for now I'll use the average of the 4 major services. It seems reasonable to me.

So you want to use the recruiting rankings to declare Clemson's 2016 class better than ours but want to discount the 2014 class ranking because we signed more kids that year, correct?

I've long had the opinion our 2014 and 2015 classes were very solid. Yes, taking 32 instead of 20 makes a difference. If Butch was still recruiting as well as he did in 2014 today most would feel a bit better about things. 2016 was a step back. 2017 even more so thus far. Some want to wait or claim everything is fine. That's cool if that's what they want to do. Im just not that guy. I don't need to see it hit rock bottom before I'd act. IMO recruiting is broken. You can fix it or bleed out.

Once again, you struggle to see your own example of Feaster is exactly what I just said. Feaster was likely told, your spot isn't SAFE if you visit Tennessee, NOT you won't be a part of this class if you visit UT. He visits us, comes home and reaffirms his commitment to Clemson. Dabo didn't have the #2 RB on the board on hold waiting on Feaster. Whoever it might have been, was likely not ready to commit anywhere. So simply because Feaster's spot wasn't filled in 2-3 days, doesn't mean Dabo wouldn't have filled it if his 2nd choice had called the day Feaster arrived in Knoxville.

When Feaster got home Clemson still had a RB spot open (his old one), he said I want in and then it was filled again. If Cordarrian Richardson takes a visit this week and Cam Akers calls Clemson and says he wants in, Dabo will in all likelihood scoop up Akers and let Richardson walk. If some kid down the road with a Furman offer calls and wants in, of course he's not cutting Richardson loose for him.

Yes, the elite of the elite may have a little more leeway, but that's only because there's not as many comparable players as them. That's common sense.
