I am not jealous of Clemson's recruiting classes for one second. Once they lose Deshaun Watson after this season they will return to mediocrity/above average. Alot of their star recruits I followed from the last two classed are overrated (Tavien Feaster, Hunter Johnson, Amari Rogers, even Higgins is a bit overrated as a 5*).
LOL
Let's not be blind. You may be the only one on earth who wouldn't flip our current commitments with Clemson's current commitments.
With all due respect to everyone we have on board
While I'm not exactly sure how 247 works the declining scale for huge classes like ours in 2014, we signed 16 4* and 16 3*. Clemson signed 10 of each. We were about 24 points ahead of them with no 5* on either side. I know it was claimed 10 signees accounted for just 3 points, but that 24 points came from somewhere.
I'll toss this out as well as why IMO saying 10 or so UT commits only count for a total of 3 points doesn't jive.
Look at Ole Miss. 27 commits. 6 4*, 19 3*, and 2 2*. Their average* rating is like 1.2 less than Clemson. Yet Ole Miss is rated above Clemson. Now unless they are counting ALL those ole miss commits and a claim of (6-7 count as like 1 point), I believe it doesn't add up. If only 20 count for much of anything, Clemson's 10 4* would have them well ahead of Ole Miss's 6.
2014 Tennessee Football Class Calculator
I don't know exactly how it works but obviously they are weighted. Check out this link, the bottom 10 account for around 3 points. Also, if those same bottom 10 were our only 10 commits, they would have been worth 130.53 points.
So how is Ole Miss ranked above Clemson? OM has 27 commits. CU has 20. OM has 6 4* and Clemson has 10. If only the first 20 account for anything as you're saying, it doesn't add up. Especially considering Clemson holds a 1.2 higher average star rating per player.
I believe the Miami class is very similar and doesn't fit the only 20 count for much idea.
Rivals is the only site that counts the top 20 in consideration of the ranking. Unless I'm mistaken.
I do see 247 does have a sliding scale which keeps large classes from counting signees #27,28, so on from counting at full value. It still doesn't add up though. The class calculator for 2014 suggests UT could have dropped 19 signees and still been even with Clemson.
I wouldn't. I trust our staff's evaluations and expect our class to be great, whether it's by signing some underrated players, our players getting bumped, or parting ways with a few guys to finish strong.
You're forgetting though that our staff wanted half of those now-Clemson commits before we took commitments from a lot of the guys we hope are underrated/getting a bump.
It seems foolish to try and convince ourselves that our staff didn't prefer a lot of those guys now committed to Clemson over those who have or will replace them.
Gotta side with Nick on this one. Their class is far and away better than ours SO FAR.
And I'm also in the camp that this class will finish very strong on the back of our season. A lot of movement is gonna happen, but if you compare the two as a whole, side by side at the moment, there are no questions, IMO.
I know off topic but did anyone find out why GFW took an absence after Tee committed to Clemson? I could have missed it but I really enjoy what he brings to this board and do not see him around much anymore...
I expect the git shirts this year. I never like the negative pub in the media that comes with them, but I expect the staff to try and send a few packing.
