Losing has hurt UT. Choking away those games last year makes it easy for other coaches to negative recruit against UT-- and against CBJ. Top recruits want to win, and they want to play for coaches who have shown they can beat top teams and compete for championships. CBJ has a terrible record against top-tier SEC teams, ranked teams and our rivals. It's not hard for other coaches to convince a recruit that wants to win championships that they won't win them at UT.
Low expectations and negativity are everywhere. Even with all this talent and depth, a lot of UT fans question whether we can beat UF, Bama, UGA and aTm. A surprising number of UT fans think Team 120's ceiling is 10-2 or even 9-3-- neither of which is likely to win the SECE.
Last year killed the benefit of the doubt. After three years of buying the pitch, top recruits want to see results.
Wishing him well is a common, mature thing to do. Throwing a tantrum like a petulant child is not.
A lot has to do with that we can't sell a vision anymore or playing time. What we have to sell is results now. We are at the stage where what we do on the field will sell itself for years to come. It hurts losing such a talented player to Clemson but 1) the process isn't over and 2) clemson has been a better team and WR group the past 7 years.Seriously, what is up with recruiting this year? The Vols are better than they have been in over a decade, won 9 games last season, are being picked to win the east and contend for championships, and the staff is struggling to land anybody. What is going on here?
Exactly, I am tired of seeing posters wishing him well at Clemson. Anyone who grew up being a Vol fan and goes to the one team 90% of us would most dislike him to attend, then the hell with him and really hope Clemson begins to fall on hard times. Everyone seems to think they are invincible but I don't remember many big wins other than the Watson years which are coming to an end.
5-7, 7-6, 9-4
how is that not results? takes time to rebuild, cant go from 5-7 to 12-0 in one season, anybody who doesnt realize that is ignorant
yes we had tough losses that looked bad, but its gonna happen to rebuilding teams, this year will be different and yes, as it stands our ceiling seems to be 11-1 or 12-1 we are not perfect or ready for a championship season imo, would need a miracle
