'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

No way Hunter Johnson comes even close to the level Deshaun Watson is at. Always thought he looked like a 3star on tape, maybe a low 4 srar at times. Dont think Clemson will be a playoff team once losing Watson. Regardless, I think this decision has more to do with making it to the NFL than playing in a national championship. Why pass up an opportunity to play in your honetown and take them to a long awauted championship appearance? I think it is becuase the road to the NFL looks much better if playing at Clemson.

Clemson has produced some great WR talent in Bryant, Hopkins, and Watkins as of recent. On top of that, there is no doubt regardless of QB play, Higgins will have a great opportunity to pad his stats playing in the ACC. While I don't like the decision, I can understand it.

I agree I watched a playoff game last year where Hunter struggled bad against Indiana competition , well that Saturday I was in Knoxville and I got to talk to hunter and his dad in the parking lot and he was blaming his WR's and his line, but if you turn on Jarretts film against one of the top teams in the nation IMG academy you will see why we were so high on him, film doesn't lie

Yeah he wants to play with Amari and Hunter. Face it, this mess started with Jones going after JG. We get hunters this is all a different story.

I'd rather have JG than any of them. We can find other receivers, QB's of Jarrett's caliber are few and far between. I think we signed the best QB in the country.

I guess Spurrier made a recording too and turned it in to the NCAA. That was all Fulmer, Bama fans didn't get over it until they hired Saban and started beating the Vols every season.

Spurrier did initially turn them in and Fulmer aided afterwards according to Finebaum.

I don't even think Hunter Johnson's the best QB his '17 class. JG was rated lower than Johnson and still looks a lot better to me. People are getting way too carried away with the star rankings that these "experts" make.

Bama fans still aren't over it and were as upset as I've seen them when we fired Fulmer because they were wanting those beat downs to come with him as the coach.

Not a lower feeling than watching/hearing 40k Bama fans in 2008 doing Rammer Jammer in Neyland.

I can understand that everyone is disappointed that he chose Clemson. Me too. But it didn't surprise me at all. It's always going to be more of a challenge to keep local kids. The lure of leaving home and going to a new campus is a big factor. With Clemson having made the national final game is also a draw. Clemson's pitch to him that their offense better prepares WRs for the NFL is, at best, wishful thinking. It didn't win them a national championship.

All this negativity about CZ's coaching is getting old. He knows how to develop WRs. Any perceived failures of North or Malone are all on them. Josh Smith is having success because he wants it and is willing to work for it. It's not CZ.

Pass happy teams like Clemson will always negatively recruit against the Vols because of the power spread offense CBJ uses. The running game will usually set the table for the offense. The Vols' passing game will have more success once Dormady and Guarantino take over the reins simply because they are more accurate passers. Players like Tee are easily sold by sales pitches using catches and yardage. For pro scouts, the evaluation includes more that that.

The 2017 class will have solid WRs who will help the Vols win in the future. There are many out there cheering Tee's decision because it opens the door for them. Wish Tee the best with his decision and hope it works out for him. Just wish he had not bought into the trolling, deception, and showboat nonsense. That will cost him lots of respect from local fans.

We are fine. There's no real value added by signing a five star receiver. We can't get any production out of them.
These aren't the WRU days. We are going to run the ball and play defense all the way to double digit wins for the foreseeable future.

Strong, well thought out post. Way to be objective and not emotional like so many others on here today who are ready to fire Jones and shut down the program.

This, The passing game under Jones since he's been at UT has not been impressive. It's easy to understand why an elite WR would look elsewhere.

I for one really appreciate the news that OV, Matt, Skeeter and others bring about recruits and I hope they don't stop bringing it. They bring us what they are hearing from their resources and its up to each one of us on how much we want to believe or buy into the info. I had hope but inside couldn't buy into 100% because we are talking about 17 and 18 yr old impressionable young man. Am I disappointed?, Yes I am, but not going to flame those who try to bring us good and sometimes bad news. For them to come out as assured as they were, they had to have heard from several sources to come in here and tell us. To me, it seems Higgins told the coaches what they wanted to hear cause I am sure it was hard on him to have to tell them no with all the pressure these kids get. So, this one recruit hurts but its recruiting, its football. Its not like we haven't been here before. We will be fine and I bet we will see some good surprises come our way before Feb gets here. So we lost one. Its July! I just hope those who do their best to bring us the news they hear won't stop. I for one appreciate it.

Go Vols!
Happy Independence Day all you VFLs!
Tennessee will be great on the football field this year!

Let it be written
Let it be done
I have spoken.

:)

Butch Jones's seat is now the hottest in the country. He at the very minimum has to make the playoff. Unbelievable. Fence is low.

Because he missed on one recruit?!?

You've said some pretty dumb things on here but that has to be near the top.

So because we will have a run-oriented offense in 2016, we don't need a 5* WR who lives 30 minutes from campus?

When JG is slinging it around all over the place in 2017, we're going to wish we had a stud like Tee to pair up with him for the next 3 years.
