'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

I am thinking a couple of things reading the tea leaves on this one. The VQ mods have seen this type of thing before. FSU makes the most sense to them. FSU is an elite program right now and they are losing their top RB to the NFL. I think that FSU is confident and VQ mods have picked up on that. Those two things are why they are picking FSU as the favorite.

It also sounds to me like Akers has kept in touch with our other commits maybe even telling them that he is coming to UT. That is where the UT smoke is coming from so the VQ mods haven't shut the door completely on Akers choosing UT. But Hubbs and Fort know that high school kids tend to tell their peers what they want to hear in these situations. Then on announcement day they end up doing what they were thought to do all along.

I'm saying FSU but I haven't given up on us as a dark horse.

This is a good summation of my thinking about this as well.

No one really knows, but looking at it objectively, FSU seems to jump out as his likely landing spot.

What is very intriguing to me about the stance of VQ is that I can only remember one recruit that they remained very positive on up until his announcement… Tee Higgins. It is understandable why, as he had apparently les our coaches on to believe he was coming to Tennessee. It would make absolutely zero cents for Akers to do that, since he is out of state. What they say leading up to his announcement on Tuesday will tell us where he is going. If they remain positive, then I think he is a Vol.

If we all think it's funny, maybe it's Bleed Orange who doesn't qualify.... 🤔

You're proving my point.

On topic - Callahan changing his tone of the Akers recruitment. Giving the Vols more of a shot here the past two days. Brad Shephard also weighed in and said a source he trusts says Vols are very much in play.

Babyvol said the same, for what it's worth.

Hmm, things are getting very interesting now. VQ continues to remain positive about where Tennessee stands in this recruitment, and now some of the other media people, who are respected, are changing their tune a little bit.

Grab a chair...dis gon b gud!

You just might pull in more green if you act like Tennessee has a real shot and money does exchange hands for these top recruit we do it just like the rest of the country,.:eek:hmy:

But how many dollars would it make?

From JAV on 247...seems to have heard different.

"I've consistently heard the most about FSU from the most sources. I also know that he's indicated to G (Gillepsie) that he's a Vol and some family members indicated he's going to pick UT. No one can say for sure at this point."

FSU has been elite since Deion was there 30 years ago, not just right now. National Championships each decade.

I'll say it, for sure a Vol. If I'm wrong, I'll stop posting for 30-45 minutes.
