'17 MS RB Cam Akers (FSU commit 12/27)

Ummmmm....wow. That's pretty telling coming from VQ.

So you're thinking this is a good sign? I mean him and his family staying in constant contact with our coaching staff sounds promising, and makes me feel like there's a better chance here than people think. If we get Akers and corker in consecutive days that's the best way we could possibly end this class. 2 5 stars and 6 4 stars is a pretty solid class.

What is your take on that blurb from VQ?

My take is no one has a clue. Which is good for UT, since most national guys are calling FSU

My take is that it's still Dec. and we are nearly full on commits and Akers is the biggest name on our board pay service guys pushing this to get subscriptions

Guessin he gone based on all the recent rb offers

People always assume that when we offer someone later in the cycle, it is because we are missing on someone else that we wanted. That is clearly not always the case. People even start assuming this when we make offers earlier in the cycle.

I think you're correct in that the level of uncertainty being a benefit to TN...and I'm trying to remain optimistic, but I think he's a Nole.

I hope things aren't being 'leaked' to media to simply build hype around this commitment...Akers doesn't seem to be that kind of guy.

I'm trying to figure out what's happened in the past few days to produce so much pessimism for the Vols signing Akers. I know 247 guys aren't feeling too good, but the VQ guys haven't had anything to say, right? And other with supposed sources are saying things look positive. Seems like the pendulum has swung the other way over the past two days. If the kid and his family aren't saying anything, then there's not much basis for the pessimism or the optimism....

Callahan CB to FSU is what a lot of us are basing that on. He is pretty conservative with his picks and is right a great deal. Still, I think that no one knows for sure, though I will be very pleasantly surprised if he picks Tennessee on Tuesday.

If we get Cam that would be great but don't see Tee switching if so it would be a dream Christmas.

You might want to go and read the general recruiting forum thread. It might give you some additional insight. I don't want to spoil it for you, but if Cam actually does pick the Vols, it will be well worth the read.

Okay...super confused...took a break from Vol Nation for a few days and now I have come back and...when did Volatil become a meme? Like, what is with all the "Volatil" picked so and so to commit?

I guess...if you can't beat them, join them.

Hey, I heard Volatil guaranteed a New Year's Eve commit from LaBryan Ray!! He is shooting orange fireworks over his house when the clock strikes midnight.

Notice how they mention, "Very little quality information to be had." Meaning that no expert knows for sure what he's going to do. Most people assume it's FSU cause of him being the replacement for Dalvin Cook but his relationship with Gillespie and Smith plays in more of a factor than most people think.

1 top Mississippi player in the last 8 years has gone more than one state away from Mississippi

Edit: him going to FSU would be bucking a pretty prominent recent trend.

Of course Ole Miss has lost a lot of luster with this NCAA thing

Believe it or not, but I am still going to act positive and say Akers ends up a Vol. Remember, just because someone commits doesnt mean anything until the LOi is signed.
