I didn't say he would. He will not. Joshua Dobbs will be UT's starting QB the next two seasons.

However, I don't foresee UT turning into a true championship team within the next two years under Dobbs. UT's talent and depth isn't quite at the championship-caliber level yet.

When Kendall takes over the reigns, Butch Jones will have the weapons & talent in place to win championships, IMO.

My intent wasn't to imply you did. I believe it can be in place next year to compete for the SEC.

I believe we have the talent to at least compete with the big dogs now. Also if our impact players stay relatively healthy we could make some noise as early as this year.

The only way Kendall flips is if he thinks he should be starting from day one. He will RS one year and backup the next. UK is probably telling him he is the savior of their program and will start for four years. Hope he is smart enough to see through that nonsense. Any QB that has played SEC level football will tell him that he needs at least one year to learn the offense.

There's a chance he would start for 4 years at Kentucky. There's also just as good a chance he would go 20-24 during that span at Kentucky

“(Tennessee’s offense) will be the same thing that they did before. They’ll put things in, obviously, (to replace) what didn’t work. And with his knowledge, I’m sure there’ll be not just a lot of stuff changing-wise, but more stuff that will help benefit their offense a lot more. And I’m pretty sure that they will understand his stuff.

“It wasn’t really much (of me asking) questions. It was just to see how he was and go over how he teaches a quarterback and coaches a quarterback, and just how he sees the offense and what he’s going to do and some of the things that he does.”

Granted, it would take some major, major breaks to go our way to even sniff that territory in '15. However, we could potentially enter the '16 seasons having 3 straight top 5 classes. No one else in the East will be able to say that, 2 maybe 3 teams in the west will be able to say that, and 5 maybe 6 other teams in the country will be able to say that. I try to remain cautiously optimistic, but no reason to expect that we won't at least be in championship territory by Dobbs's senior year.

Even though your math is kinda fuzzy (I think you have at least 8-12 teams with consecutive top 5 classes which is kinda impossible) I agree with the sentiment.

Yeah. I don't know what I was thinking. According to Rivals, only Bama, FSU, and the Vols have finished top 5 in each of the last two classes. So we'd be 1 of only 3 teams that could possibly enter '16 season with 3 consecutive top 5 classes. I'd say that gives at least a pretty decent shot at Atlanta in '16. Championship level, IMO. Again, trying to stay cautiously optimistic though.

Unless Dobbs' passing does a 180, I would say it's very possible one of the other guys beats him out for the '16 start.

He's kinda right though. Dobbs is Matty Mauk type erratic. Until he shows some consistency, people will express their doubts. IMO if Dobbs has a lackluster year with all our talent at the receiver and tight end position, you could very easily see a legit battle for the QB spot in 2016. Unlikely, but definitely possible - especially if one of our 3 newly signed QBs steps it up and shows he's ready to lead the offense.

I definitely see a legit QB battle in 2017....Dobbs will have already graduated.
