'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

You're glad UT got him? Maybe it's just me, but I experience no joy when our rivals get commitments from potential beasts.

I support UT too. If they're competing against anyone but UK then I'm for them.

One connection is Tennessee- an 800+ win program

The other connection is UK- a career .495 winning %

UK has 10 consensus all-Americans. UT has 38 all-Americans

UT has 6 National Titles UK has one

UT has 16 conference titles UK has 2

I mean, was there ever a choice here, regardless of a sibling?

We don't recruit often against Tennessee, especially as of recent. Even so I'm sure we have players that ut would gladly take.

If players picked teams because of recent success they wouldn't be picking ut right now. They're picking because of a great past and even more on what butch is promising. Every school starts somewhere I guess. Hopefully UK develops into a half decent team. But recruits aren't picking ut or UK right now because of history/results imo. Butch is doing a great job of grabbing talent early, and stoops is using his connections pretty well.

I used the "offers" as that is about as close as we as fans can get to "having any idea if a staff wants them or not". Honestly it does not really matter to me what a kids offer list looks like. About half the current UT commits holding bama offers tells me we are recruiting the same kids talent wise. If the UT coaches take the kid, I'll roll with it. 2*, 3*, 5*, does not really matter who else has offered.

Finally, I agree with you on offers. Offers go out to EVERYBODY. Stars however... I know you don't subscribe Leb...but, they DO matter. 4 and 5 stars on average dominate success (All American/Pro Bowl) compared to more than 3 stars (3 stars have a broader margin to calculate). Yes, Chris Johnson was a 2 star...

Also, I PRAY CBJ drops lesser guys for slam dunks..

I don't think he will decommit but it's a long way until NSD 2016. Things can happen. It's not totally out of the realm of possibility that between now and February 2016 that he COULD rethink things.

True, but judging by who is posting it, I think it is currently more of a sour grapes thing.

Quick recruiting note...

Tennessee's two four-star commitments in the class of 2016, Ryan Johnson and Austin Kendall, talked on the phone earlier tonight. The topic of conversation? A congratulations from Johnson as well as talk of meeting up at the Utah State game to being to formulate a recruiting plan for the next few years.

I tend to think if CBJ took their commitment no matter the *'s, he considers them a "slam dunk". :good!:

I just seems silly to me that fans look at a kid who may be a 5.7 3* UT commitment today and say they would like to see him dropped for a higher rated kid. Yet the same kid could get a bump in the rankings literally tomorrow to a 5.8 4* and then he is ok as far as the fans are concerned. IMO, that is just laughable.

Kendall is not going to UK. I realize his brother is there and all, but this is not basketball. We are a few years away from competing for the SEC Title, even wo Butch's promises(dreams) and our past. We are stock piling studs at the skill positions on offense, any QB in the country would kill to have the talent we have at the WR,TE,RB positions. I mean who does UK have that we would take? Barker and Elam...?? If you haven't noticed UT is loaded on offense, all we really needed was a QB. This is not the same UT of the dooley years, its no longer a question of if we will be back, it's just a matter of time.

Well with previous staffs the 2-3*'s we signed usually didn't pan out. But I no longer bat an eye when we sign a 2 or 3 * prospect. Butch and his staff are better talent evaluators than any of the recruiting site's, and from what I have seen so far we seem to be leaps and bounds ahead of the majority of the other schools. When we sign or offer a 3* kid you can take to the bank Bama is not far behind and a rating's bump will ensue. The fanbase will eventually trust our coaches everyone is still feeling the effect's of previous years. But if Emmanuel Moseley put's up a season similar to Sutton's(which wouldn't surprise me) that should shut everyone up. Moseley was a 2 * when we signed him and as of now he is our starting cb. In Butch I trust.

Fair enough. I think B*s can be replaced EASILY. However, I think you think lesser ranked talent should be allowed to represent. Hopefully, you shove B**** in my face in a couple of years. :peace2:

2016 is a long way away. Let's say UT underperform and UK overachieves. Maybe he reopens his recruitment. He might still choose UT, and imo that's a wise choice. It's not surprising he wanted to commit to someone like butch, he's killing it in the recruiting world.

Like I said, I'm glad UT got him, disappointed he decided this early, but certainly not "sour grapes" lol.

You see the bolded part was where I stopped reading and slipped into a coma of laughter. So... thanks for that. Now back to reality and UK not achieving at football... ever. :tear:

Same with Coleman Thomas. He's gonna be our starting RT as a freshman and he, also, was only a 3*

Absolutely and honestly I am happier about Coleman Thomas being as big of a surprise than anyone. That's a huge position of need and look's as if he will be a 4 yr starter truly rare in the SEC. If things go right hopefully we never see another 4 yr starter for a very longtime other than the freak talents(Jamal Lewis, Berry,Manning ETC).

Brooks overachieved for about 3 years. I have faith it can happen again. The one glaring thing he never did was beat Ut, which was embarrassing. That's the only thing joker ever did that was good as a HC.

Boooommmm!!!

Super stoked about this one. This was discussed earlier in the thread, but I'll throw the Aaron Rodgers comparison out there. Perfect fit for this offense.

SCOUTING REPORT ON KENDALL

Now we turn to Rivals.com's recruiting Analyst Adam Friedman for expert analysis on the Vols' newest pickup:

"Kendall has a great throwing motion and crisp footwork and that helps him be very accurate. He has good arm strength and can make all the throws. At the Rivals 100 Challenge presented by Under Armour I was very impressed by his ability to quickly adjust his timing to new receivers. That's something he will have to continue to do well when he gets to Tennessee."

Now, more from Rivals.com's National Recruiting Analyst, Mike Farrell:

"Love his film, when I saw him throwing at our windy Charlotte camp and his ball cut through the wind (40mph at times) and then saw the way he handled himself at our Five Star Challenge I just feel he has that "it factor" needed to be a leader and a winner. I have a feeling about this kid, sometimes you just get a feeling, and I have a feeling he's going to be a special one down the line. Has some improvement to do as they all do and needs to get bigger and stronger, but I expect his junior film to be excellent, expect him to be an Elite 11 kid and in a major all star game before all is said and done."
