'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

i watched every play last year and I watched Worley run around the edge on every hand off

trust me the opposing coaches were being merciful!

Worley had a few good carries last year. I just don't think he likes keeping it. The more he does it, the better he will get at it. If the other guys are setting up the blocks, 5-10 yards a carry for just about any QB is there at times.

He is fair game when he goes on the fake you know that right?

In what way Clint?

You telling me Butch can recruit QBs and this kid is example of his talents?

I do think people forget just where our recent QBs ranked when they signed with UT. BOTH Dobbs and Ferguson were 5.7, 3* QBs. One was ranked 20th and the other 23rd in the 2013 class. Add to that Jennings who is a project at QB and considered an "ATH" by the services and QB recruiting at UT has a ways to go. Coming off the losing seasons we have had, it is what it is. I will say that a kids "ranking" does not always play out as expected good or bad.

Comparing draft position of a DT to QB play and recruiting is apples to oranges. Worley never ran because he doesn't want to run. Coaches tried to get him to run, but he wouldn't. The QB is free to take off in this system, and that's why they want a player with mobility.

And, yes, Butch knows what he's looking for in a QB and this kid is a prime example.

I hope this guy is Plan G right now on our QBs list. We've recruited several big names thus far...if we end up with him I will be disappointed.

Based on what? Stars or offer list? He missed his entire junior year with a torn labrum. That cost him major exposure.

The tape looks good. 247 thinks a lot of the kid if they have him as a top 5 pro-style QB after not playing in well over a year. The tools are there.

Just because he's not a "big name" doesn't mean he's not good or he's a bad fit for UT. Butch Jones wasn't the sexy hire that you or I wanted but it's working out quite well. Quinten could be the same deal.

You know what if a drop back passer or even a DT ...I don't wanna play in this high school offense

I wanna be the QB to throw to the WRs we have

and if I am DT I will improvise....

Totally... Bray never got hurt... Worley and Peterman were completely healthy behind our NFL OL.

Injuries happen. It's the nature of the game.

The ignorance in this post is strong.

Keith is the resident VN idiot.

It doesn't make much sense to recruit a Pro Style QB for a "spread" offense.

Surely you are not that damn dumb.

Please go back and look at Butch's offense at CMU and Cincy...you need a passer who can run 4-5 times a game...not a runner who can pass...yes they had quite a bit of rushing yards but average out the carries. It averages to something like 4-6 a game.

well I agree

but Butch don't

he turned a 1st round nose tackle into a 6th round pick and not to mention what he did to the offense yet still only won 5 games

he's gonna play his game .... stubborn SOB

I literally can't stop laughing at the first part of the 3rd sentence. Show me any mock draft with Dan as a 1st round pick and I'll show you our 2001, 2004, and 2007 national championships

“I was hoping they would (offer), and it worked out, so I’ll be taking my visits to schools that offered here coming up, and they’ll be on the list,” said Dormady, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 173 overall prospect and No. 5 pro-style quarterback in the 2015 class.

“That was definitely exciting, because that’s one that I had already visited and looked around, and there were definitely things about that program that intrigued me. … I’m definitely intrigued, and it’ll be good to get back up there and visit with Coach ‘Jake’ and Coach*(Butch) Jonesagain and just hang out for a couple days or whatever.”

The 6-foot-4, 208-pound Dormady said he likes Tennessee for several reasons.

“They’re a good program,” he said. “They’re going to win games. I mean, I like Coach ‘Jake’ and Coach Jones a lot. The facilities are off the charts, and they’re getting better, and they have such a good following and all that stuff.

“I mean, yeah, the facilities are really nice, but I would probably say the thing that stood out to me the most was probably the stadium —*just how big it is.”

Dormady, who throws right-handed, missed his entire junior season after suffering a torn labrum in his right shoulder last year during baseball season. The Vols, like many of the teams that have recruited him, wanted to see him throw in person this spring to gauge his recovery.

“I mean, I’m back to 100 percent,” he said. "I’m throwing the best I’ve ever thrown, and I’m as strong as I’ve ever been.”

He said his upcoming series of visits is “still kind of in the works,” but he and his family are planning to hit the road sometime around June 8 for a trip that could last almost two weeks.

“I’m just going to take a couple days, I think, at each place that has offered me and just sit down and talk with coaches and stuff, and we’ll go from there,” said Dormady, who has received five of his eight offers since May 1.

While Dormady holds offers from Oklahoma State, TCU, Kentucky, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Houston and Texas-San Antonio in addition to Tennessee, he said he “won’t be visiting” a few of those teams because they already have received quarterback commitments and are “not thinking about taking two” quarterbacks in the 2015 class.

He said he’s hoping to decide on a college within the next couple of months.

“It’s kind of based on how I feel about it and whenever I talk with my family,” Dormady said. “But definitely before August comes around, I’ll have made my decision, hopefully.”

I can already see the future in this thread (if Dormandy commits to UT this summer). There will be a ton of posters crying, complaining, whining about taking his commitment. He'll have a really good senior season, demonstrating his arm is 100%, and will start to pick up some bigtime offers. This will make those same posters, who overreacted and cried about his commitment, freakout that he's going to flip to another school and we'll lose out on a top tier QB.

Very well may happen. With him making the effort to do all his research on where he wants to go before he commits makes me think he will be done with recruiting when he makes that commitment. IF he picks Tennessee, I think he will stick. Unless of course the coaches try to get greedy and go for a 3rd QB. Then who knows what plays out.

Will be a unanimous 4 star by the end of his season. For everyone that says a pro style qb can't work in our offense well I don't see Peyton Manning or drew brees lined up under center very often.
