'15 TX QB Quinten Dormady (UT Commit 6/9/14)

You're forgetting the litany of shoulder specialists gauging every throw and predicting disaster after every misplaced throw.

Ehh, shoulder smoulder...Hurd's shoulder is a trainwreck waiting to happen, why should we balk at a QB with a bum shoulder too? :)

Total sarcasm :hi:

Not much of a gambler?

Umm, knoxvillain's knowledge of the shoulder is somewhat lacking.
If he had dislocated his shoulder and torn his rotator cuff...

Labral repairs have really advanced. Can really make it much better than if this was 15 yrs ago... :hi:

I just realized something but am I leading the Dormady train?? I have posted entirely too many times in this thread because I am not the type to get caught up in the QB wars.

I felt if he got the offer, good chance he is a Vol. I think we will get some good news here soon.

From the Elite 11 in Arlington earlier this month:

Dormady is the new breed of quarterback in college football – big, mobile, and fluid. Although his performance on Sunday was not on par with some of the other throwers at camp, it was fun to watch.

Last season (junior year) Dormady spent the year recuperating on the sidelines from a torn rotator cuff which required surgery. Since he wasn’t evaluated when most players are, missing his entire junior season has him somewhat under the recruiting radar.

Dormady shined brightest during the drills which required some mobility (play action roll-outs, scrambles, etc.). After watching his high school highlights, that certainly isn’t surprising. What distinguished Dormady was his fluidity – when he threw from the run it looked like part of his stride not a forced motion. Although he was accurate and on time when moving, he struggled to perform a 5-step drop. He threw the ‘one ball’ very well, but as his passes needed more touch and loft, his performance suffered.

I watched an interview with him saying it was a labrum tear in his shoulder, not a rotator cuff.

Yup, and those are two very, very different injuries as well.

Love hearing that stuff about him being very fluid and having good mobility in the backfield. This is CBJ's mold.

MockingVol, called it. That settles it as far I am concerned. No backing away now. Done deal - all Vol.

Gonna be real interesting to see what happens at the QB camp this weekend. Coaches are going to get an up close look at multiple players and it will be fun to watch what happens. Would love to be a fly on the wall to listen to the conversations. So many possibilities can happen and no matter what decisions are made now, there is a looong way to go until NSD. I will go out on a limb and predict that TG puts us back as 1a again with a slight edge over AU and will shorten the time he needs to make his commitment to sometime this summer, probably in July.

After watching his video and reading up on him...I am all in on him...I really liked Gentry, but this kid looks more athletic and fluid with his movement. Gentry had the better arm, but that was as a Junior compared to Sophomore...will be exciting to see how he does this year. I like his body size as a senior in high school, NO HOMO, and it would be easy for him to translate to college as a Freshman at that size, at least compared to Bray when he got here.

As far as the Labrum tear is concerned, I tore mine completely in half in 2007...I mean completely, the Surgeon had to sew the pieces back together as they were just floating around in my shoulder. It took a year to feel comfortable to lift weights again but I have never had any more trouble out of it. Played Softball the following season, 6 months after surgery and could throw just fine, except for the mental block at first lol...if it was the Labrum, he will be just fine. If it is the Rotator Cuff, I have no clue.
