point guard jawun evans listed tennessee, oklahoma state, texas, illinois, clemson, usc and virginia tech when asked by 247sports director of scouting jerry meyer which schools he was considering at the breakout classic in philadelphia. Evans, a 6-foot, 165-pounder from kimball high in dallas, is a four-star prospect in the 247sports composite but meyer has him as a five-star and one of the top 20 players in the nation.
"i want to go to a school where i feel comfortable and play for a great coaching staff and develop," evans said. He said he didn't know at this point which of the schools he would visit. Meyer said vols coach donnie tyndall, usc coach andy enfield and clemson coach brad brownell all watched evans on wednesday night. Meyer said evans is a "no-brainer five-star who is a great defender, has excellent speed, gets to the rim and has a high basketball iq. Even though he's only 6 feet tall, i think he's definitely an nba player."
