'15 TN TE Kyle Oliver (UT Signee 2/4/15)

It's going to be interesting to see how all the numbers will work out. I don't know how it will work out. Oliver hasn't seemed to waver although I know a few other schools have continued to talk to him.

Can't decide if I was more impressed by the catch or just shrugging off the two defenders like they were nothing

TE or WR?

He's a split TE until he learns to block consistently. He's an anomaly from the TEs Butch has brought in since he's been here. This kid has the tools to be a very special weapon in the passing game, but his blocking has to improve for him to be an every-down TE. He also needs to gain about 20-25 pounds.

Could be said about Helm. I think his ability to block kept him off the field a lot this year.

Helm was pretty much in the same Mold as Oliver. I'm excited to see what he looks like next year after an offseason in the weight room. And another year in the system. He and Wolf are going to be a great duo imo. I hope we see them on the field together more next year bc I think they're a great mismatch.

Helm has earned alot more playing time lately. The staff likes to motion him and match him up with a SS or OLB.

After another year in the weight room Wolf and Helm will be able contribute more in the run game. And will be more physical in the passing game.

Plus AJ brunisical or who ever will be back next year and he played some as a freshman last year.

Oliver will get a RS imo

Unless he can play tackle!

We have to use the TEs in our offense before they can be a great duo. I'm not going to be negative towards Jake yet and call for his head, but it's truly baffling to me how he completely forgets things that have been working in this offense. We did not throw one ball over the middle to the TE Saturday night (the fake FG doesn't count). As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure the only target to the TE was that stupid play where Dobbs rolls out and hits the TE in the flat, and the TE gets his knees blown out. We also only put the slot in motion and ran the zone read triple option type play maybe 5 times. Every time we did we gained big yards. That play is almost unstoppable. Just baffling to me...

Isn't that probably more on the QB than on the OC? Most play calls that involve the WRs also involve a TE route. I'd think the QB not looking to the TE more often would be on him than the OC. When the WRs are running a post, an out, and a curl, the TE running across the middle or a seam route is almost always an option.

Another reason we see fewer TEs catching the ball may be partly due to the glaring issues at OL. Keeping the TEs in to help block may be something that is required on pass plays at this point.

New article on Rivals. I cant read it, but it looks like he will be taking some visits including Ole Miss. Someone please confirm

I think he is a TE. We are to the point where we can take kids and have them RS and grow and develop. I think that is the exact scenario with him. He needs to get bigger and stronger and learn to play tougher. Moving from WR to TE isn't easy to learn the blocking "mentality" but I think CBJ and co. can get it out of him.

He stated he would be taking a official to Kentucky on the 28th. Will be setting up a official to Ole Miss and will be taking a official to Alabama for the Iron Bowl. Alabama coach said he would have a offer within the next couple of days.

Very interesting vid. He made it sound like he isn't hearing much from our coaches. Says he committed "right now" and is OVing Bama, OleMiss and Kentucky.

Definitely interesting. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic but this tells me the staff either knows or feels great about landing several top uncommitted guys going forward.
