'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

So this chief to a&m thing couldnt have happened at a better time. Hope this locks up martin and phillips, plus maybe pat allen too with the georgia coaching carousel. Coaching consistency may really pay off for us this year.

Can't blame the kid if he's hesitating. Although I firmly believe our trajectory is on the UP side, we've been a .500 team the last 7 years (since he was 10-11 years old). Kids want success and a sure winner, can't fault that.

The recruiting job for the coaches is future success and being the bedrock for that foundation. Not always an easy sell when your 6-6.

BTW, Vol.

Thing is, this argument doesn't explain Ole Miss, who has only been "good" for three years.

Dooley isn't coach anymore so I'm not gonna worry too much about recruiting. CBJ has shown he is very good @ it and will replace guys if needed. We have 3 solid DE committed anyways. If kyle wants to be a Vol then great, if not, then oh well. Rather have someone with unconditional interest in TN due to the last 7 seasons. Thick and the then.

I'm not sure. Someone posted that only applies to the first set of papers and it's my understanding that Kirkland sighned those with MI first. Nothing wrong with Kahlil or Kirkland initiating the face time action though regardless.

Other teams who get the FAAs signed can still have unlimited contact but if the player ends up not enrolling at the school then the school is subject to penalties.

Army Bowl Day 2 Standouts

Defense

1. Kyle Phillips, DE – Like Thompson, Phillips was not taking a passive approach to Tuesday's practice. He was there to work and he became one of the day's biggest headaches for offensive linemen. Phillips' speed off the edge at 260 pounds was almost unfair. If he didn't beat the lineman in front of him outright, his motor and speed in pursuit allowed him to get there eventually.
