Kirkland signed his papers so he can have unlimited contact right? FaceTime with Phillips on Kirkland's smarty IMO.
This is great news and all, but I never understand how teams can make a surge when we are in a dead period. I know recruits can call the coaches, and I think the coaches can make one call per week. I guess that's how. Just seems that surges would happen when visits occur, not with just a simple conversation on the phone. Maybe the surge is due to everyone involved knowing that Chavis is leaving.
Phillips has said his relationships with players on the team will be huge in his decision making process. I can't believe we are not leading in that category. Something though just doesn't feel right here. It looks like he's looking for an excuse not to be a Vol. I can't imagine what that could be unless he does not have confidence that we've turned the corner here. He's stated multiple times he wants to play for a winner and maybe he has doubts that UT is close to competing for championships.
Agree with this. Something doesn't feel right here. I'm starting to wonder if Ole Miss is in better shape than everyone realizes, especially with his comment about being closest with Chris Kiffin, who would be his position coach. Something smells and it's not corn dogs.
I would add to that if he still ends up in Baton Rouge, he just didn't want to be a Vol. With Chavis leaving if he still goes there it eill be obvious that we've been wasting our time with Kyle.
I find it difficult to believe he will still pick LSU with Chavis and DL coach (probably) gone. I think McKenzie and Kirkland work him over and get him. Would be nice if they were on the same team though, so they could practice on the same unit.
Can't blame the kid if he's hesitating. Although I firmly believe our trajectory is on the UP side, we've been a .500 team the last 7 years (since he was 10-11 years old). Kids want success and a sure winner, can't fault that.
The recruiting job for the coaches is future success and being the bedrock for that foundation. Not always an easy sell when your 6-6.
BTW, Vol.
