'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Hopping on the elevator last night at Vol Hall my friends and I happened to share the ride to the 12th floor with a certain coach, a couple recruits, and a set of their friends. Based on the discussions that went on during that ride and subsequent walk down the hallway, I'd feel pretty confident with the outcome of a certain player's decision. The other player is already verbally committed.

It was actually pretty hilarious. The coach had all of us rolling with laughter. We hooked them up with a roll of TP and the coach said, "what other school gives ya sht paper?!" We died. We told him instead of using hats on NSD that he should just pull out a roll of Charmin

Im gonna take a stab at this and guess that the committed player in the elevator was Vincent Perry. Yay or Nay?

Crusse does not try to get ecred. He has been a very conservative and level headed poster from what I have read over the years. Crusse brings this kind of information, my eyes perk up as it is not the norm for Crusse.

Thank you for the info Crusse.

preciate it

Really it was more funny and cool than anything. First time I've ever seen recruits with the coach who I'm assuming is in charge of their recruitment. The coach was bringing the laughs.

Yesterday I definitely learned that the place to see football players is the Vol Hall elevators

I think so. Earlier in the thread someone mentioned Phillips would be fine playing OL if needed.

I think someone is confusing Kyle Phillips with Dylan Jackson. Jackson is the DE that could make the move to OT. Haven't heard Phillips playing anywhere but SDE. I could be wrong I guess.

looking at him in that elevator, I don't know if he could ever add enough weight to be on the offensive line

"Talked to Kyle Phillips tonight and had a good conversation with him. We talked a lot about his Ole Miss visit last week and his Tennessee visit this weekend.

He was in town with his brother this weekend and that's good that he came on campus with him. He also said, and I found this interesting, that Derek Barnett has started to recruit him pretty hard recently and that Barnett would love for him to play on the opposite side of him. Kyle is certainly paying attention to that.

With Ole Miss, Kyle was in Oxford last year for their win over LSU and this year for their win over Alabama so he's seen some great atmospheres down there. They are telling him he is their top defensive line guy left on the board so they are pushing for him for sure right now.

In terms of a decision, nothing set yet and he's still not sure whether or not he's going to be an early enrollee or even when he will know that. His Hillsboro team is rolling right now and may make a deep run into the playoffs so he may not even really get to take official visits until late November or even December so he's not sure what he wants to do.

We will have the full story tomorrow morning but just wanted to throw this out tonight. "

It's been discussed that he has been impressive on the OL this year and he was quoted as saying he'd be open to it. All in this thread within the last few days.

Oh Ok. Guess I missed that part of the thread. That's a pretty interesting developmental.

Thanks.

So Butch 'bout convince one of the top DL on our board to play offensive tackle? That's so Butch. Cue "Recruiting... I'm really good at it" .gif

Phillips is only 6'3"

That is what he measured in at when at the Rivals Five Star Challenge.

He isn't going to be an offensive tackle. I highly doubt he's going to be an offensive guard.

He's going to be a strong side DE or three technique DT.

well....I mean if actually seeing a team beat SEC competition is your thing more power to him.

Thanks for that...seemed like an inside joke when they started talking about that possibility.
