'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

This is becoming a common theme of the commits and targets. Deep down inside it makes me feel even better about our recruiting.

Yep. We have been saying this on here for a while. Saban keeps riding Butch's coat tails.

I wouldn't go that far.

Butch got a head start on this class and Saban's catching up. We have good players committed, and Saban offers good players.

I don't know if it's the coat tails thing so much as it is talent evaluation we should be reassured about. Butch knows talent. So does Saban. And Saban knows Butch knows talent. We have a former NFL scout running our recruiting office (Bob Welton) and a lot of SEC and NFL experience on our coaching staff.

What??!! How did Butch get a head start on this class over Saban? Saban has been at Bama for eight or nine years, while Butch has been here a little over a year. Butch should be the one that's way behind. If Butch got a head start on this class, it is because of his relentless personality and hard work.

Because the class was full a long time ago.

Hubbs even mentioned CBJ and Co. getting started on this class long before NSD.

I knew they would be offering him soon. I'm sure they will give him the same line they fed Jack Jones, "We know about you and Tennessee but we also want you to know that you have this option too."...and then they will start in with the negative recruiting spin (but they have to tread lightly with a Tenn kid who likely has grown up a UT fan just like Jones). I'm not sure whether to be flattered by the amount of attention they are showing our commits or to feel disrespected by it. Do they really think they might flip a kid from Maryville? There is no damn way.

They signed a kid from Auburn .

So......does this mean Saban will try to get a rule passed that no coach is allowed to evaluate and offer scholarships until a certain date passes?

Funny thing is, the rules were just changed this year limit the disadvantage that bowl eligible teams had in recruiting

“Not really, I’m still committed, I’m true to my word an am good with my decision,” he said. “That’s that. I may consider another school, but I’m pretty solid with my commitment, I like where I’m at.”

“I haven’t talked to them much about that yet,” Jackson said. “What isn’t there to love? Butch Jones and all of the coaches are great guys, it’s close to home, I’ve been to plenty of games, the atmosphere is amazing, there’s a good medical school which is what I’m trying to get into.

“It’s just right.”

“I’ve never been down there, he (Saban) said he’s trying to get me down for spring practice sometime, so I’ve got to talk to my parents about maybe setting that up,” he said. “I’ll be taking some visits to enjoy the recruiting process a little more, but I don’t know where yet. We’ll see. “

I like a recruit that is explicit in saying he plans to take a few visits to "enjoy the recruiting process a little more". I feel like some fans cease to consider that it's a once in a lifetime deal for these kids and forget just how fun it is to get the red carpet rolled out for you. I know I'd be taking all of my official visits and then some.

Nonsense! He is on the fence. If he is taking visits, then he should not have committed! We might as well find a replacement, as this usually doesn't turn out well.

Red carpet?

:yuck:

So many of us still have the Dooley doom deep inside. Butch will drive it out over the next couple years.

I understand, but after a full cycle under Butch and this staff, when a commitment takes a visit and there are positive comments about it, I shrug my shoulders with little care. They have proven to me that if they really want to keep them, then they will. If they have someone else that is better they found after the commitment, then they might encourage the recruit that this isn't the best fit. Remember, these kids are committing and staying loyal after a tough season...I think they can see the vision of Butch, and it speaks volumes about their loyalty.

HG made a great comment the other day in the Preston Williams' thread when asked his thoughts if he stays loyal to UT...said he thinks he does, and remember that PW committed early in the season last year and has remained committed. Why wouldn't he have flipped or de-committed by now if he was looking to play for a proven contender or for someone with less competition at the WR position? Because he is sold on the vision and wants to be a part of bringing back an elite program from the ashes, as well as he loves to compete. These are the type of guys that fits this staff's recruiting profile.

A sack full of Krystal's and a six pack of pbr will clean you out.

*You could add a couple of chili pups but thats not doctor recomended.

Can't afford Krystal's anymore. Jokers done got expensive, when you can rock the Jr bacon cheeseburger with the works at Wendys
