'15 TN DE Dylan Jackson (former UT commit)

Nonsense! He is on the fence. If he is taking visits, then he should not have committed! We might as well find a replacement, as this usually doesn't turn out well.

The kid may need to hope he does not get "Mouhoned". I'm still not sure if Kevin honestly wanted to go to cinci or if he was told it may be a good idea by the UT coaches. IMO the visit opened the door for it to happen, even if he was just visiting his brother. We are in on some of the best DEs in this class. Dylan may want to be careful IMO.

Dylan won't get "Mouhoned" as you put it. He has great potential as a tackle. That is what Saban is recruiting him as a tackle, and that's whay he will be for us.

Also, Dylan isn't "on the fence" either. Those comments are fine. It was from a Bama writer and they were likely worded to see if he would visit other places and even decommit. The Bama writer posted on the UT board he is solid despite the offer

OT in college.

Year 1: Senior year of HS
Year 2: Freshman year at UT (he redshirts)
Year 3: RS Freshman year at UT with four years of eligibility

And the issue here is...?

I don't really have an issue with it. Just more less pointing out that 3 years from now, he could just as easily still be a DE. The kid does not even play OT for his HS team. We'll see how it turns out.

How can you call it getting "Mouhoned" if he flips to Bama? Cincy is obviously a step down from TN, but Bama? The most dominant recruiting team in the last 4-5 years?

If teams like that want him then I highly doubt we tell him to kick rocks for a visit.

I knew they would be offering him soon. I'm sure they will give him the same line they fed Jack Jones, "We know about you and Tennessee but we also want you to know that you have this option too."...and then they will start in with the negative recruiting spin (but they have to tread lightly with a Tenn kid who likely has grown up a UT fan just like Jones). I'm not sure whether to be flattered by the amount of attention they are showing our commits or to feel disrespected by it. Do they really think they might flip a kid from Maryville? There is no damn way.
Aaron Douglas did it, under different circumstances.

Most seem to feel Mouhon's ending up at cinci was not really his decision. I tell myself the staff did not just force the kid who was LONG considered a big time UT get to play elsewhere. I tell myself the reason that became an option was because he took a trip after committing. That is the reason I think it's risky for any kid who has committed to UT to take visits. Maybe they don't have to worry about being asked to look elsewhere. IMO some of them could. Kids who are considered the best of the best kind of hold an advantage when doing as they wish and the staff would probably just roll with it and hope to hold onto them. A kid who is being talked about as possibly being forced to add 50-60LBS and then play a position he has never played is the definition of a project IMO. Projects who take trips IMO could very well end up on the chopping block if #'s become an issue. I could be wrong and Dylan could love the idea of playing OT in college. I'm curious why if that is the case and George Quarles has said he COULD be a great OT, why not have the kid add 10-15LBS over the summer and him play OT as a SR in HS? Would it not set him up better going into college? Even at DE Dylan would be a couple years from playing in the SEC. At OT he may never get that chance. JMO

Much different circumstances. Douglas didn't change a commitment from Tennessee. He signed with Tennessee and then transferred to Arizona Western after a red shirt year and then playing his freshman season and later enrolled at Alabama. There are exceptions to everything and UT doesn't have a good recent history with Blount County kids at all. I would probably have to go way back to Mike Casteel (1979-1982) and briefly Billy Williams (1993-1994) to remember a football player that contributed anything at all to UT football from either Maryville or Alcoa. I just doubt that Saban would be offering Jackson (a 3* whose future position is uncertain) this soon if he wasn't already a UT commitment and it seems unlikely that he would flip but I know nothing about the kid.

Watching Dylan's impressives film and looking at these stats. All of which seem to be great for a HS junior.

4.87 sec Dash
28.5" Vertical
345 lbs Bench Press
440 lbs Squat

I think the guy will get even better this coming year and be a beast for us on D with him and Butcher being Terrors on the edge of the D.

Hope I'm proved right! :)
:salute:

“Not really, I’m still committed, I’m true to my word an am good with my decision,” he said. “That’s that. I may consider another school, but I’m pretty solid with my commitment, I like where I’m at.”

“I haven’t talked to them much about that yet,” Jackson said. “What isn’t there to love? Butch Jones and all of the coaches are great guys, it’s close to home, I’ve been to plenty of games, the atmosphere is amazing, there’s a good medical school which is what I’m trying to get into.

“It’s just right.”

“I’ve never been down there, he (Saban) said he’s trying to get me down for spring practice sometime, so I’ve got to talk to my parents about maybe setting that up,” he said. “I’ll be taking some visits to enjoy the recruiting process a little more, but I don’t know where yet. We’ll see. “

No problem with any of that...kid's being straightforward and honest. He's gonna enjoy the process...as he should. Only happens once in a lifetime so good for him.
