You can either see it by looking at him and watching his film, or you can't. Whether you can see it or not, he has o-line written all over him.

He isn't a troll. Just overly concerned about numbers and adamant Jackson is a DE. My opinion is both issues will work themselves out over time.

The film of him firing off the ball with good pad level, using proper hand techniques to disengage the blocker, using his long stride to gain ground, and using his gigantic wing span to envelop the opposing QB or RB? A guy playing DE with dominance and great technique tells you he must surely be best suited for OT? I'll say this, he may accidentally grow into an OT, but the kid has undeniable instincts on the defensive side of the ball. Adding 30 or 40 lbs to his frame would make him an absolute nightmare for quarterbacks to deal with.

I know you lose a lot of sleep over this, but Jones didn't acquire 4 championship rings in 6 years by being bad at roster management. The staff said all along that they had a plan to manage numbers. And they did. There's not a reason to doubt them on it at this time.

To be fair, a lot of that stuff is coaching...which is why I'm surprised we don't get more kids from Maryville. Quarles hasn't won all those games by accident.

Yeah they are a powerhouse. The main reason we don't go after many kids is that they aren't usually SEC caliber in terms of size or pure athleticism. I think Jackson is definitely an exception to that.

Yup. The physical attributes he displays, coupled with his frame screams o-line. Not saying he's a bad DE or that he couldn't be successful on the DL in college. People basing their opinion that he can't play OL off his weight listing need to watch his film. If they still don't see it, cool. But it is there whether they can see it or not.

And yes, as nashvol93 said, most of what you said is coaching. Doesn't have a lot to do with where he projects best. If he ends up at OL, it will be no accident. And it sounds like that'll be the case, or at least it appears so right now.

Agreed. Lots of good coaching, but he has great instincts on the D line which isn't coaching. The control he maintains while pursuing the QB or ball carrier is impressive. That's not coaching either. My feeling is that his football skills align best with DE. His frame and weight might eventually dictate that he is an OL, but as of right now, he should be honing his craft for college at DE.

No doubt. It just really bugs me that Vandy's current starting QB was plucked from UT's backyard. That kid's pretty decent, too. I'm good friends with one of his former receivers who hung up the cleats after HS ball, and he's a huge UT fan (as I suspect most folks in that area are). We should get all of the best talent coming out of there, but we haven't.

This is who I could see Dylan being comparable to. They were both 6'6". Aaron was around 240. He appears to have close to the same speed. I hate to use the comparison for obvious reasons, but he is who came to mind.

I knew they would be offering him soon. I'm sure they will give him the same line they fed Jack Jones, "We know about you and Tennessee but we also want you to know that you have this option too."...and then they will start in with the negative recruiting spin (but they have to tread lightly with a Tenn kid who likely has grown up a UT fan just like Jones). I'm not sure whether to be flattered by the amount of attention they are showing our commits or to feel disrespected by it. Do they really think they might flip a kid from Maryville? There is no damn way.

I think I'd be flattered. Saban has mentioned that we will win soon because we have a good coach now. He knows Butch can recruit and has no problem offering our guys in the hopes he gets lucky and pulls one.
