'15 NM QB Zach Gentry

I do think Gentry is the staffs "Cornwell" this year. I think the focus is mainly on him right now and he is their guy. I also think Matt Williams is their back burner guy right now. If numbers allow they may take both. Miss on Gentry and I would not be surprised at all to see them take Williams a few games into his SR season if he does well. JMO

Well damn...that ruins a theory I was working on

That Gentry is their number 1 target?...if that's your theory,I think it's right on...but this staff doesn't have tunnel vision...they recruit more than what the basket will hold...and let the unwilling apples fall :yess:

I don't get the Peterman hate on here. He got thrown into the swamp with next to no experience, playing in a new offense, and got hurt in the process. Lighten up on the kid. Had he played later in the season he probably would have been no worse than Dobbs. If they put him on the field at some point I would expect his performance to be much improved if he stays with the program.

There is going to be a 4 way fight for the job. Best man wins as determined by Butch.

100% agree. Have been saying the same thing. Wasn't like Worley played much better the 2nd half. Worley had some turnovers and easily could have had atleast 2 more int's that were dropped. What FR QB or any QB making his first start there would have faired much better? Not many. Neither Peyton nor Tee won in the swamp. They were 0-3 in starts there between them.

Well said. IF Nathan does not decide to transfer, I would not be surprised at all if going into the season the depth chart reads Worley, Peterman, Ferguson, Dobbs. Coaches felt that way going into 2013. 2014 could very well be the same.

I may be wrong but just don't see Worley getting many more starts, if any. Hoping like hell Fergy is as good as advertised and wins it out of Spring.

None of our QBs have a TON of experience going into this year. Even Worley as a SR only has 10 starts under his belt.

I think Butch has only visited Gentry as for QBs. Jake has visited with Gentry 3 times I believe. Jake has visited with Stidham, Rosen, Kearns, Barnett, and maybe Town. I'm sure there are others.

I think Lock and Nunez have came to campus only.

Azzanni visited with Gibson.

You may be right. QB development can be very hard to predict. A kid can all a sudden have the light go on and he just lights it up. Things slow down for him and everything clicks. Maybe it does for one of the younger guys going into this season. Justin did lead the team to it's best win of last year, so for now I think he is the guy until one of the others shows they could get it done.

You're right he did lead us at QB to that win. But also we did nothing that second half and if not for North bailing him out 3 different times we prob dont win. But on the flipside Worley did give North a chance to make some pretty spectacular plays. I can see Worley's lack of an arm killing us with the speed at WR we have. I know nobody has seen Fergy play but I am holding out hope he lives up to the billing. He definitely has the arm and mobility, just a matter of if he has it upstairs or not.

Yes they rolled Peterman out because they thought he was up to it and yes they were oh so wrong. Worst performance by a QB in UT history wrong. Why? Because he's way better in practice. If he's back out there in front of a freshman or anyone else, its my opinion were in BIG trouble at the QB position.

You would be correct about that. ..but the only way he sees the field is if all 3 of the other QBs go down.

Really can't understand fans judging Peterman based on one half of football in one of the worst and loudest stadiums for an opposing team. Worley wasnt much better. He had several turnovers and atleast 2 int's dropped and possibly a few others. His receivers also dropped several early passes which would rattle most young QB's and make them try to be more perfect than they need to be. I would put Dobbs game against Vandy right there with Nate's first half, but difference is Dobbs had a few starts under his belt and it was at home. Peyton was 0-2 there, Tee 0-1 and neither of them were making their first collegiate starts there. Just saying its tough for an experienced SR QB to go there and play well muchless a RS FR making his first start.

My theory was deeper than that...involved silence.

Is this true?

Not per 247. Of course recruiting sites don't always have the best/most up to date info. Unless a kid reports that a coach was in to see him, not sure how the sites would know.

247 does show CBJ having visited several of our QB targets. Lock, Gentry, and Stidham are a few. Oddly it shows only CMB visited Gibson.

247 shows CBJ visited Lock on 1/17/14. He visited Gentry on 1/27/14. For Stidham it shows UT "Staff" visited him on 12/15/13, 12/10/13, 1/17/14. I do recall there being a report mentioning CBJ was part of at least 1 of those trips.
