'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

I'll be surprised if this Academic scandal doesn't turn really ugly for UNC. I would think a bowl ban is almost a lock at this point, even with them being a school the NCAA worships. And I don't see the USC/UNC comparison at all. USC is an all-time powerhouse program. Their name alone recruits for them probation or not. UNC has and never will be remotely close to that type of program.

Not nationally like USC, but UNC is a big deal to in-state kids.

Yes it is, but despite that they still don't recruit all the well. I just cant imagine this scandal not having a negative affect on recruiting for them. Like I said, they aren't USC.

+1...Picou is the real deal imo.

In my opinion coaches are doing it rt.our defense line has completely sucked for 5 years compared to upper sec teams. It has to be this way to compete earlier than later. Noone wants to wait 3 more years

I think we end up with Jones, Mckenzie, and Tuttle. Heard too many positive things about the three to think otherwise.

This would change us from having to wait till 2016 to be really good, to being contenders next year (2015). These 3 are good enough to be in the two deep at least, as soon as they get here. With our current class and these 3 we would have a great rotation next year. Our weakest spot is DL, and these 3 would be like a few of those rare guys like Lawson, Jernigan, Nkimdiche, etc. that can play as freshman IMO. Not to mention if we add Sweat to that! Wow

I would go crazy! That would be the best DT haul in the country, and the best one we have had in 15 years.

7 DL coaches in 7 will do that to a line; not to mention 5 DCs over the same period. Can't wait to see some of those guys in their 2nd year of there development under the same staff.

USC > UNC and it ain't even close. UNC has no Orgeron or elite recruiters like USC had at the time. I'll take Butch going head to head with Fedora in a recruiting battle any day of the week.

agree up to the point of Heels having no elite recruiters. Larry Porter joined the staff after season and he's a former Recruiter of Year and finalist two other yrs at LSU. The one thing UNC could always sell recruits was the prestige of its degree. With this cheating scandal coming up again imo its going to hurt with oos picking off top talent.

The places that Porter has received acclaim (LSU and Texas) mostly sell themselves and have great talent in their backyard. Any recruiting coordinator at those two places is going to get more credit than they deserve. Porter's tenure at Memphis produced all of 3 victories and he has bounced around a lot. Reminds me of Trooper Taylor.

Tuttle or Settle to with McKenzie and Picou would be a killer DT class and the foundation for a solid D-Line in the future.

Same can be said for Ed O. Aub, UT and SC get their choice of instate kids and have national followings. Bear and Saban would fail at Northern Miss U.
