'15 NC DT Shy Tuttle (UT commit 9/26/14)

“(I like) their atmosphere, and they’re definitely getting better,” Tuttle said of the Vols. “I have interest in Tennessee.”

“I just want to hang out with the coaches.”

“I’m going to narrow it down over the summer,” Tuttle said, “and I’m graduating high school early, so (I will decide) sometime in my senior year.”

Said he talks to Coach Elder on a weekly basis.

Thank you sir.

Obviously not a tech genius here. Ha.

This pic is actually my son. He had a pirate makeover thing done at Disney. And I told my wife it reminded me of the "I like turtles" kid. She had no idea what I was referring to. Ha.

#AAVIP: Who sticks out for 5-star DT Shy Tuttle? 5-star Tuttle details his plans … #NorthCarolina #Tennessee #Alabama #Texas

TIA :hi:

LEXINGTON, N.C. - Elite 5-star defensive tackle Shy Tuttle has high interest in a group of schools.

Shy Tuttle is one of America's best recruits.
Who sticks out for the No. 1 overall recruit in North Carolina?
“Really all the schools I guess,” Tuttle told 247Sports Thursday afternoon at his high school. “Well (North) Carolina has always been one (I like), (North Carolina) State, Clemson. I like Florida State, Florida. I don’t know. There’s a lot.”
The Lexington (NC) North Davidson standout has 30 offers.
His most recent came from Texas on January 19.
“I was pretty excited,” Tuttle said.
The offer came from Longhorns defensive line coach Chris Rumph who recruited him while he was at Alabama.
“I thought he was a pretty cool coach. One of my favorites. First coach to recruit me,” said Tuttle.
The nation’s No. 3 defensive tackle is just starting to research the program and tradition at Texas.
“I don’t even know what its about,” Tuttle said. “Still learning.”
The nation’s No. 15 prospect has already been to a host of colleges.
“All the schools around here, Alabama, Tennessee, Ohio State,” Tuttle said. “I went to Georgia two weeks ago. I’m going to South Carolina in March. Florida State during my Spring Break, maybe Florida, too. If I don’t make it to Florida during Spring Break (I’ll go in the summer). Maybe to Texas (in the summer), probably won’t happen. Maybe for an official visit. Talking about that. I have to reschedule (a visit to) Tennessee.”

The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder broke down his thoughts on all of the recent and upcoming visits.
“Florida usually has a good defense,” Tuttle said. “Florida State not that bad. Pretty good this year. Florida (is) known for defensive linemen. (I know the) coach (that) used to coach at Carolina (defensive line coach Deke Adams). Great coach (for South Carolina). I don’t know. I just heard (Georgia) was pretty cool and it was. I’m not sure. It was kind of a weird feeling.”
Tuttle visited Alabama last summer for three days. Linebackers coach Kevin Steele has now taken over his recruitment for Rumph.
“He’s pretty cool I guess. The new facilities and weight lifting and stuff. That was pretty cool,” detailed Tuttle
The blue-chip defensive lineman has been to Chapel Hill over a half dozen times in the past year.
“Just got a good feel for it,” Tuttle said. “Close to home and they are getting a lot of good players.”
Fellow five-star recruit, defensive end Jalen Dalton, lives a half hour from Tuttle.

They duo have talked about possibly playing together on the next level.
“Maybe,” Tuttle said. “We talked about doing Texas as an official (visit) and Carolina. That’s really it.”
Which schools have consistently recruited Tuttle and made him an early priority in his opinion?
“NC State, Tennessee, UNC and Clemson,” Tuttle said.
He’s been on the record saying North Carolina has recruited him the hardest.
Two programs have now also amped up their efforts.
“Well NC State and Tennessee talk to me a lot now, too,” Tuttle said.
The defensive tackle visited Tennessee this past fall.
“Its pretty sweet,” Tuttle said. “I went to the Georgia game. It was crazy. Probably the loudest game I’ve been to. Those were huge (boats on the river).”
Tuttle listed Rumph, North Carolina offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic and North Carolina State defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen as the coaches he enjoys talking to the most.
The defensive lineman plans to make his decision late this fall as he’s set to graduate early and enroll in college in January.
As a junior, Tuttle recorded 73 tackles, four sacks, five passes batted down, an interception for a touchdown and four rushing touchdowns despite playing with a torn labrum in his left shoulder.
He underwent surgery for the injury on Tuesday.
“(The doctor) just reattached my labrum,” Tuttle said. “Last summer I swatted a ball and it just popped out. So its been doing that since last summer. (The doctor) told me its going to be about five months (until I’m back to full strength). Therapy starts March 13.”
As a sophomore, Tuttle had 97 solo tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, five pass breakups and five rushing TDs on six carries.
As a freshman, Tuttle recorded 71 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, nine sacks, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and returned a one-handed interception 25 yards for a touchdown.

An FSU poster said he thought Tuttle would go to either UT or NC.

Getting some top notch players in the trenches would be awesome. I we would be well on our way back to the top.

Going to the uga game last year would have to be a positive for us. Probably the best atmosphere in Neyland stadium in a while, that game and the usc game. Hope we made an impression that with him that will last.

It seems like we compete against unc for a top nc recruit every year. They always recruit decently well but never have a better than a 7-5 season.

We need that recruiting pipeline we once had in the carolina's and VA..

Nonsense! Metafour will drive by shortly to explain to you the definition of a pipeline. You have to pull greater than 50% of the recruits you are after, and they cannot by any means be a legacy...those DO NOT count!

So he likes every school in the country. Good to know.
