I might be wearing my orange colored shades, but as long as Thigpen is still at Tennessee, I'm not conceding victory on a linebacker recruit. Thig is gonna be his position coach, and Thig is one of the best recruiters in the country, if not the best considering what he did last year. I don't see anyone on that Texas staff being able to flip Cherry if and when Butch sends Thig. It sho' ain't gonna be Charlie Strong.

I just read through the last 3 pages and aside from a couple of posts I don't really see that we went to "pitch forks" or were "lambasting CC". It looks to me like we're all just discussing the issue. I think you guys are overreacting in this case.

I like Cherry (the hits, his passion, etc.) but if he is looking to flip then why should we as fans be obligated to give him our loyalty? I'll wish the kid well but at the end of the day we all want to see our team full of the best players in the country. Whether that's him or someone else really makes no difference.

I think it could very well play out that Cherry would be a Vol if we pursued him BUT I really think Jones will fill that spot pretty quickly. I think Cherry decided to look around and we honestly didn't mind because we felt pretty good about our chances on Kirkland.

I would never bet against Thig and Jones but Strong does have some more established connections in Florida. Take that as you may.

I think this one is Jeff Luc made over.... JMO. I would rather have a guy grow into a MLB like Bates. I am not sure he has the speed to play here.

Gavin Bryant is going to be a good LB. Its funny how everyone gets so hyped about a kid during the process then forgets about him bc he is not a star his freshman yr. That kid just developed a little slower than some of our freshman but hes gonna be a violent Linebacker at UT. Hes the same size as Cherry. Exactly 6'0 and almost 240lbs. Hes a striker and the coaches still really like him.

I'll say this, any kid that lines up at MLB for Tennessee in the future has it made. KMack, Tuttle, Picou, Barnett, Hendrix, Butcher, and the others up front will let you stay clean all day. Good luck to him if he chooses Texas but other MLBs will be licking their chops at that lineup. :)

Prior to his visit to Texas, I had never heard anything about him being a Texas fan growing up. I'm pretty shocked in the latest change of events with Cherry. Not to mention, there goes my Cherry, DeBerry, Berry, Berry fantasy introduction of our starting defensive lineup.

Are we about to get santosed. Just my opinion, I think I'd rather have Kirkland than Cecil, but that's just me. Hell I wish we could have both.

Don't blast me for this, but I'm almost wondering if Kirkland called the coaches after he decommitted from Michigan, and told them he wanted to be a Vol if we had room. The coaches gauge Cecil's interest in looking around...he wants to. Coaches tell Kirkland he has a spot, and he commits (but remains silent so the Cherry recruitment can play out). Now, he has us as his last OV next weekend. I don't think we let Cherry go this easily unless the coaches already know that Kirkland is in the bag.

Might be a better topic in the recruiting forum...

But, he's all Vol after reports I've read. Texas is a sketchy place right now, we are on the rise tho and people are starting to notice.

Yeah, but Cherry stated that Texas is his dream school. He grew up a Longhorns fan and absolutely loved his visit. And plus, Charlie Strong has great Florida ties due to being at UF forever

This sucks and is bad news. Charlie Strong has HUGE Florida connections and is a great recruiter. Hope we don't lose him to Texas, but this may happen........

If he's calling Texas his "dream school", that's not good for us or anyone else. Why is Texas his "dream school"?
