'15 LB FL Cecil Cherry (former Vol commit)

The kid is enjoying his life right now and want to enjoy the recruiting process. Let's please just keep encouraging him and let him know he is needed without hounding him. Dude is All Vol but lets not mess it up as a fan base.

Ya because it's our fault

Neither. Just made comments about Texas being his dream team. And suggested while he is "committed", he's not sure where he is going to sign come NSD. Can't whiff on the MLB position with AJ leaving, so the coaches are doing what they are supposed to do to make sure that doesn't happen. I think most on here hope Cherry signs with the Vols.

Wow. I missed the part of Texas being his dream school. I'm not as optimistic now.

If Texas is his dream school he should play there if his offer is committable. If his heart is in Tejas, will he ever give 100% as a Vol?

So you're saying he'll play at 100% just to get to the league. If so he can get to the league via Texas. I'd rather have a recruit that views the Vols as his dream school.

I would too. But the simple fact of the matter is not all Vol commits look at UT as their dream school. If they land here for one reason or another they will give their 100%. Look at Mostella, he is a Bama fan but he is a Vol and this does not mean he will not go 100% to beat Bama when we play them.

If I had to guess there's probably less than 30 percent of the roster that would say this was their "dream school." Don't be so romantic about it, kids choose schools for lots of reasons.

Gotta say, awfully surprised at Cherry's comments about Texas and his going wobbly on his UT commitment. He would've been the last guy I'd have thought would be questionable in this class. Bring on Kirkland imo.

We'll see I guess but to virtually marry the Vols and talk about his childhood sweetheart doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.

Cecil, Vol Nation has your back. You're going to be the type of player that sticks around in the record books for a very long time! Just stick with us!

Love that Butch does not let kids handcuff his recruiting. Your either on board all the way or your not in his book. If your not 100 percent committed he will recruit your replacement immediately. They didn't waste time setting up the Kirkland official after Cherry lame comments

I don't see this as being a huge deal. Cherry is probably going to visit Clemson and UT after. I think if he makes it on campus for an official we keep him.

EDIT:

Plus if we lose him Jakob is doing well and we still have Bryant.

Sounds like a case of UT cooling on him... jmo. He is very undersized for a MLB.

Yeah. Just a bit. Also, I love - LOVE - the way he hits, but if people on this board think our current All-SEC MLB is slow in coverage... well, I'll just leave it at that and say that I hope he sticks with UT. Go Vols.

he better hope TX was his dream school because it sounds like he " looked" himself out of a locked spot in this class based on Hubbs comments on Kirkland and Sapp in their threads.

Theyre both 6'1 240, 6 feet is pretty generous for cherry. Isnt he really alot closer to 5'11?

Prolly but got to expect he going to grow another inch or so through out college. Had buddy who shot up 5'10 to 6'1 in college and I grew another inch myself in college. So, fingers crossed

It's crazy how many hypocrites we have on this board. Lambasting Cecil but praising Bussey. Recruiting is fluid. These kids have to do what is best for them in the long run. Truth be told, CBJ can't take every kid, whether they are committed or not. Wish the young men well and move on. I trust that CBJ will put the best team on the field.
