We were going to turn away Darrin Kirkland's interest in Tennessee out of loyalty to this kid. He goes on to visit Texas and spew his love for UTjr, so we move our pieces accordingly. Cecil would've been a good one for us, but no recruit is bigger than us and we are seeing that now.

This is why we recruit February-February. Good luck to Cecil, but we're Tennessee. We're going to get ours.

Sounds like a de-commit to me. Sorry, he feels this way about a select few who don't know how to appropriately utilize the internet. But, really I'm not sorry.

If he wanted to be a Vol, he would look beyond what some fans say.

Am I the only one that thinks we should've taken both Kirkland and Cherry (obviously too late now) and take our chances with a walkon long snapper or have a center do double duty?

He needs to just go ahead and decommit now and get it over with. Moving on to Kirkland...

Never thought that it would come down to this with Cherry but you just never know in recruiting.

Agreed, Smokey...I think it solidifies the notion that you definity put your spot in jeopardy if/when you start taking visits late in the game. I think Cecil will be a great player wherever he ends up and I wish him nothing but the best of luck. GBO!

This relationship really went sour fast. This post by saw1017 was from 10/15 and it's been confirmed by several other posters here that Cherry's family has been to multiple games including Florida, wearing those shirts.

Just gotta hope we pull Kirkland now... :crossfingers:

I mean Cherry turned his back on his commitment before the fans turned their backs on him. Doesn't matter I'll still hope for the kid to be successful even if he is at Texas as long as they aren't playing us. I think he'll be a great one but I think Kirkland is going to be a great LBer as well. Best of luck though Cecil.

The last mlb Texas got from us is really tearing it up. Cecil isn't exactly blazing fast, and the offenses run in the Big 12 aren't exactly ground and pound.

There's my "didn't want him anyway" post.

Even though you live in GA, don't act like you live in GA. Stay classy. No one knows what conversations were had between the coaches and Cherry. It may have been mutual or more of an urging from the coaches. Either way, act like you have a little shred of class.

Why can't everyone wait for the decommitment before posting all the hate? In the last day, I've read countless times that we shouldn't rush to conclusions regarding the AJ/Williams situation. Why doesn't that same logic apply here?

I find it hypocritical to say vol fans are showing true colors when he is the one that flirted his way out of a spot and calling another school his dream school. Wth does he expect? Oh Cecil it's ok that you love someone else but we still love you come back? Heck no this is TN. This is the SEC. Butch Jones says it best you can either watch us or join us. He decided to hook em with Charlie Strong playing second fiddle to Sumlin and AM in their own state
