Well Tux was wrong for being so definitive about Malones recruitment, but he was right that we were really low on his list, and it was looking pretty unlikely that we would get him.
I think the lesson is more
1. Don't ever count out Butch Jones
2. See #1
It's just the way tux comes across as a know it all, like he knows exactly what's gonna happen and why, when NONE of us know exactly what's gonna happen with recruiting and this football team. Tux is no more plugged in than any of us, and he sure isn't the only one to play d-1 ball...
Hey Tux my brother worked with Cordel when he was in the Chattanooga ATF office.Ive met Cordel a couple of times and was impressed with him.Josh comes from good people no doubt.Go speak to Brent himself at JP2. Even ask Josh himself. BTW, Josh's Dad and I went to school together and were longtime teammates in both football and basketball.
1. Best case scenario: Gibson signs along with Dormady & Jennings, bringing several highly rated players. Gibson and/or Jennings decide a position change is in their best interest, and all have productive careers.
2. Good scenario: Gibson signs along with Dormady & Jennings, bringing several highly rated players. Gibson is an awesome QB. Dormady is a back up or transfers out. Jennings changes positions or is a back up
3. Lesser good scenario: Gibson signs along with Dormady & Jennings, bringing several highly rated players. Gibson gets frustrated, not able to win the job, and transfers
4. Worst case scenario: no Gibson... Anywhere on the field, no tag-along recruits, and Dormady and Jennings battle it out.
However I add it up, Gibson is a +, IMO
ok. My best are
1. Gibson signs. Brings a lot of big time players. Is Mike Vick /VY college great. Dormady is a good back up. Gibson highly drafted after 3 years. Dormady then has 2 years to start since he rs, then he is drafted. JJ is all SEC/AA safety or Dormady transfers and JJ has 2 good years at qb when TG leaves and he is drafted.
2. All sign. Gibson brings players. Dormady starts. Other two move positions and become All SEC where they land.
3. All sign. Gibson brings players. JJ starts Both Tg and QD transfer or back up.
4. They all sign. Gibson brings players. None are good qbs but at least TG/ JJ moves positions and are still good. Dormady career backup or transfer.
5. Worst case. No Gibson. No extra big names. No D Snelson next year. Dormady bust. JJ Bust at qb and refuses to try another spot. Still need a qb.
Number 1 and 2.
No 1 I said he backs up then has 2 years to start and is drafted.
No 2 he starts so that means he is good. I'll edit to say gets drafted.
It just seems like you think he'll be average, regardless. Worley is going to start, and most wouldn't say he's "good." Apologies if that isn't what you were saying.
I cant say if I would want to or not. To be honest, Tux has never posted anything that struck me, good or bad. I just found it humorous that people have pointed out that he said JM wasnt coming, then decided to.
Let's be honest, in recruiting, your information is only accurate as it is coming from the recruits mouth. It only takes 1 second for humans to change their mind...
But hey. I say we burn him anyway...
He only comes off as condescending because he is.This is spot on! We came out of nowhere the last 2-3 months before his decision. Tux may come off as condescending many times, but I believe his info was spot on at that time he mentioned it to the board. However, as we have all learned, nothing is definitive in recruiting until the LOI is signed. Oh yeah, and we've learned that Butch is pretty good at this game they call recruiting.
