This board said cam newton was a TE and Matt Simms was better and I said then Cam was elite... I'll roll with Butch and I also feel Gibson is going to be a star QB somewhere. As long as he is coachable then I don't see how you can say he doesn't have the tools to be a QB.
Everyone forgets Last year was his first time at QB

I want to land Gibson, but in reality, he is going to play WR for the Vols. Not playing around. He will be a great WR-reminds me of Cory Flemings situation somewhat.
The tale of Gibson's recruitment has taken a twist after he led American Heritage to a Class 5A state title last season. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound athlete has spent a majority of the offseason playing wide receiver, raising questions about which position he will line up at in college. Ohio State, Tennessee, Miami, and LSU have all offered Gibson as a quarterback, but some feel Gibson might be better suited at wide receiver.
You simply can't turn down a speedy athlete like Gibson, and his ability to play quarterback is a huge bonus.
This is from a BR article. I guess we offered TG at WR thoughlol:
It seems that this situation is much like CBJ taking way more signees than it appeared we had room for last year. So, we're just going to have to wait and see how it shakes out. Doesn't seem like there's any way to make 3 QB prospects in the same class, happy.
Maybe JJ is pretty open to playing a different position and we don't yet know it
So, I go to sleep for 6 hours, and this is the rundown.
Before night-night:
1. Fans drove from Chatt to FL, to pick up Gibson, allegedly committing a violation.
2. Butch gave Gibson the ultimatum... commit, or we ride with Dormady.
3. Gibson looking somber around town, awkwardly stuck because the fans don't love him anymore, and refuse to drive him back. Commitment to Auburn seems imminent.
4. Gibson is apparently being held hostage... but enjoying BBQ, so it's more like "winning"
Wake-up
1. TN leads by a decent margin. Apparently, Ainge/Schaeffer part 2, coming to the Hill.
2. Butch has convinced Gibson to become a WR, later determined to be a joke.
3. Gibson about to fly back... uh oh... flight delayed... gonna get more BBQ.
4. Gibson is still in K-town, but planning to return to K-town this month, if he can ever get out of K-town.

A 6-4 DT QB, yes please
I have my doudts that he will come to U.T. He has already named Auburn as the (1A) choice and U.T. as the (1B) choice.
Also, we have a committment already from Dormandy, so why would he come here and have to compete not only against Dobbs & peterman but also against another freshman.
Bringing in two hot shot freshmen q.b.'s in the same class doesn't work out for both q.b.'s.
Manning & Stweart = Stewart transfer Ainge & Shafer = Shafer transfer
Dormandy & T.G. = ?????? transfers.
If he already has Auburn as his (1A) and U.T. gets a committment from another q.b. then he would be more inclined to lean more towards Auburn..... I would think!!!!

I have no doubt that when Torrance Gibson was offered it was at QB. Months later and (2) QBs already committed, IMO that has likely changed. Also interesting that AU is not listed there. Looks like they may have been recruiting him as a WR all along. They were his leader going into this past weekend. Kind of tells me he would be cool with lining up as a WR. Maybe UT can find him a spot.
Do you seriously think Auburn is recruiting this guy at any position other than QB?
This guy will play QB at UT... the good news is that Dormady will likely have success here for a couple of years too.
TG plays for 3 years and is a 1st round draft pick after his Jr year. Dormady starts as a RS Jr & Sr.
I can't speak for him like that. I know he is a hell of a competitor. Competition doesn't scare him. I know he's been told he will get a chance to play QB and he will give everything he's got.Hey Volatil, do you think JJ would be willing to play another position if he is 3rd or 4th on the QB depth chart? Would he transfer to play QB somewhere else, or would he change positions to remain a VFL? Thanks!
EDIT: Not implying anything in the least. I hope he competes for the starting role.
