We'll see how this shakes out. I will say I think Butch has played his hand as well as it possibly could've been played. I don't know how Gibson will feel when other school get in his ear with negative recruiting but for now it seems we're sitting good.

Since all his favorites have a current highly rated QB commit negative recruiting will have to get creative.

SIAP, but I found this article on the OSU forum about TG

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four-star quarterback Torrance Gibson recently rearranged his top seven after taking a visit to Tennessee this week.

But the visit has nothing to do with Ohio State's new spot."

Here's the new list, in order: Tennesse, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Central Florida, Miami (Fla.) and Ohio State.

So why are the Buckeyes, once one of Gibson's top schools, at the bottom of his list all of a sudden?

"I don't know - I am not even sure," Gibson told cleveland.com in a phone interview Thursday evening. "They are just dropping right now because a lot of coaches have been in contact with me, and I haven't been in contact with any of their coaches since I don't know when."

Good. Let's keep it that way. ... Not that we have any control over that, but...

So kidnapping TG for 5 days, and taking his phone away has worked tremendously.

bUTch gets it!

Getting Jauan Jennings from Ohio State was payback for Vonn Bell...

Getting a commit from Dormady (recruited by Kiffin and Bama) -Awesome.

Getting a commit from TG, just so he never plays for a rival team...Priceless.

So ohio st was recruiting him as wr and now doesn't contact him for wr or QB. No way this guys off the field issues are REALLY too much for CUM ? Are they?

its been said if CUM thinks they are not a contender, they wave the white flag and turn their attention elsewhere...People are blowing the off field issues way out of proportion...

Could be any number of reasons. They did take a QB right around the time his "issues" came up. Maybe it played into it, maybe they just decided to go in another direction.

TG doesn't fit CUM's target player profile. Instead of the usual serial murder, assault, thefts and assorted misdemeanors and felonies Urban looks for in a player, TG's greatest off-field issues are acting like a normal teenage boy who is a little more extroverted and outgoing than the average, and who, because of his talents, finds himself suddenly caught up in the madness surrounding being one of the most sought after players by major college programs and their fans in a college football obsessed country. He likes the love and attention but if we're honest about ourselves we would too - even those who get hit with fame and adulation as 30 or 40 somethings sometimes let it get to their heads until they get used to it and learn how to cope with it all.

IOW, TG is guilty of being a popular outgoing kid having fun who is not yet world wary or jaded enough to watch his every public statement like a full grown adult or younger adults who had been burnt would. Urban, OTOH, prefers those with a serious rap sheet or at least the potential to have one before they leave college, not fun loving kids who still have stars in their eyes.

I guess we're 1a now and Auburn is 1b. :)
