Hey, the kid isn't known as a thrower, which really isn't a necessity in their offense. I'd say the Cam Newton thing provides a lot of equity.

Hard to believe that no top QBs want to play with this plethora of talented WRs. Odd.

Guys, please don't bash because it's an honest question. But why would Gruden make such a difference in his decision? He wasn't really known as a QB guru or anything like that. Sure he does the QB interviews before the draft and I know every high school player would want to meet him, but why would that make such a difference in him picking UT over Auburn? He won't be there to coach him in college. It's a staff and scheme thing, and Gruden can't change that

Classic example of an Auburn fan acting a certain way to get you guys to believe he's over here to buddy up to a rival fanbase, only to make condescending comments and trivialize some of the advantages we have working for us. If you really believe an 18 year old kid isn't impressed by a guy who is all over ESPN doing QB evaluations then you don't have your finger on the pulse of teenagers. And what do you mean by a staff and a scheme thing? Do you even know what scheme Butch Jones and his staff runs? It's the read option, which is a perfect style of offense to fit a QB like Torrance Gibson's strengths. You're so arrogant to think only Auburn would be a good fit for this kid. When in reality if it wasn't for paying players to be there, burying failing grades, and hiding index 1 crimes stemming from illegal drugs, Auburn would be irrelevant. Much like the state it resides in.

I have full confidence he'll be here, but it's more of him enjoying the process than us being near the top of the leaderboard.

Winner.

Come for a good time, meet Gruden, learn some stuff, sign with Barn IMO. Hope not. But he fits their O with a proven offensive system that produced Cam, beat Bama, and played for an NC. We are not there yet. If Butch wins out great, if not, understandable.

In all fairness, the only WRs potential QB recruits really saw ball out last year were Pig (status uncertain for this year) and true freshman Marquez North. They probably haven't seen Malone or Pearson besides maybe a mention on Sportscenter, despite the fact that adding those two essentially doubled our amount of effective receiving threats.

To all of you saying this, the fact that we are anywhere near the top of this kid's list is a lot more suspicious than a national title game team with an offense created exactly for his skill set.

To all of you saying this, do a little research on the history of Auburn football from the Pat Dye era on before making ignorant statements thinking you are giving an honest and fair unbiased opinion.

Haha. Perfect offense and a similar guy that will be leaving after next season. Not "throwing in the towel" just being a realist..

A realist by definition would mean not throwing in the towel seeing as though naming a leader is not the same as making a commitment. The above post would suggest a pessimist.

Here's the exact tweet for all of 'realist' out there.

.@quick_tg6 says Auburn is his leader right now, but #Auburn and #Tennessee are still locked at the top of his list as 1a and 1b.

After his visit to Auburn on Saturday for Big Cat Weekend, 5-star prospect*Torrance Gibson*of Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage said he needed to think it over Saturday night to figure out where things stood in his recruitment at the top.

Last week, Gibson told Ryan Bartow of 247Sports that Auburn and Tennessee were his co-leaders. But on Saturday, he said the trip “Moved [Auburn] up a lot.”

When asked if the thought of committing crossed his mind at any point during the visit, Gibson, who both Auburn and Tennessee are recruiting to play QB, replied, “a little bit."

Sunday afternoon, Gibson sent 247Sports this direct message on Twitter: "Auburn is my leader but they both still share the #1 spot."

Asked to clarify if that meant the Tigers now held a slight edge over the Vols, he replied, "Yes."

Gibson is the No. 1 ATH and No. 15 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

Saturday's visit was his second to Auburn. He stayed the night in Auburn.

Gibson plans to visit Tennessee in June for its quarterback camp, which will feature Jon Gruden
