From Auburn Rivals -
...That helps explain why Gibson felt so comfortable at Auburn's Big Cat Weekend. He wanted to spend time with Rhett Lashlee, of course, but the Tigers' offensive coordinator rarely spoke about anything involving the game.
"That helped a lot. I like it when it's not all about football but when it's about having fun and enjoying life," Gibson said. "That's what I like. That's what he taught me today. It was different not always talking about football -- just having fun and enjoying life and having it not always be talk about coverages and defense."
The lesson, there's more to Auburn than just football, resonated with Gibson. He acknowledged after the visit that the idea of committing crossed his mind, but he quelled that emotion. The dual-threat quarterback has offers from every significant program within 1,000 miles of his home in suburban Miami and wants to make sure his first choice is his final choice.
"I had to think about my decision," Gibson said when asked how seriously he considering committing. "I have to wait it out a little bit more; I don't want to rush anything. I may have to shorten it up. We'll have to see soon."
Gibson said he watched film of Cam Newton and Nick Marshall running the Auburn offense. He believes his skill set fits perfectly with what the Tigers expect from their quarterback, which gives the program a major bump in relevance.
Auburn's biggest challenger, at least right now, is Tennessee. Gibson said he's planning to take another visit to Auburn in June, which will be his third trip to the Plains. The quarterback said he's impressed with the Tigers' next generation -- the Class of 2014 signees and the Class of 2015 prospects -- and believes the program could become a national benchmark in short order.
"This place will blow up," Gibson said when asked if everything comes together with Auburn's recruiting effort. "A lot of people will start wanting to come here because the offense is really rolling. We'd have great coaches who know what they're doing. This place would be rolling."
