I honestly think if TG was forced to pick today he would pick us. I respect that he wants to wait and make absolutely sure, shows hes got his head on straight. Regardless if we get Gentry I don't see that weighing on his decision to come here too much. You can tell when the kid talks about the University and the coaches that he wants to be here. I believe.

Obviously I want whoever the coaches have as their #1 QB on the board, however, with the conspiracy theory behind the "group text message" I wonder how it would change things if TG committed elsewhere due to Gentry committing here

Interesting notes from the Sooner board on Gibson:

Tennessee is his favorite right now. I really dont think he is coming to OU, or that we are really in it. I think the depth we have at QB will be a deterrence.

Might change his mind after OU beats that ass

Don't worry. He's not going to Tennessee either after we destroy them. We are physically loaded at QB so it will be hard to sell a lot of talented, near-ready to play recruits to sit on the the bench for 2 or more years. Until we have physical movement at QB, a lot of top rated QB will look elsewhere. The nature of the beast.

Beating TU's vols will be VERY important, (and the houndogs will be SKY HIGH to beat OU) this sept.

If OU doesn't win by 4 touchdowns it is a terrible omen for the season. That is a bad, inexperienced team playing an early season game against a team that's supposed to be a title contender. Tennessee is a 5-7 team. We need to absolutely massacre them.

This OU team is loaded with a lot more talent, is playing at home, and returns a metric ****ton of starters from a team that stomped Alabama last year. Tennessee is a 5-7, 6-6 type team. OU needs to mudhole them, or it's a big disappointment. The Tennesse game I would say is the 4th easiest on the schedule, behind Tulsa, La Tech, and Kansas.

Can someone explain what TU's vols are? Is he calling us Tennessee University?

Ok, even if it's partially true I feel disrespected after reading that. Comparing us to Tulsa, La Tech, and Kansas........ how dare they. I would read that in the locker room before the game if I were Coach Jones.

They beat UL Monroe (6-6), Tulsa (3-9) and Iowa State (3-9) by 4 TDs or more.

They couldnt even beat WVU (4-8) or TCU (4-8) by 10 points. Both of which were in Norman.

They only beat Kansas (3-9) by 15.

Most of their wins came by less than 14 points.

Do they not know their own schedule? Theres no way we are worse than LA Tech, Tulsa, WVU, TCU, Iowa St or Kansas.

Texas, Kansas St, Baylor, Tx Tech and OK St make up the rest of their schedule. We are on the top half of their schedule.

It is amazing the stock they are putting in beating a Alabubba team that obviously didn't give two ****'s about playing the game. OU is a good team..they are playing at home.. we are inexperienced, and still discombobulated from the upheaval of the last few years..they should beat us. I hope we can at least put some hurtin on them.

I just hope their coaches and players overlook UT half as much as their fans. The Vols will walk out of Norman with a big fat W if that ends up being the case.

I'm pretty sure kids and their families know how the recruiting game is played. I doubt what someone says on a message board impacts their decision much if at all. Well, unless your Codyg from Cleveland.

If a kid wants to know where he really stands IMO with the UT staff, it's simple. Ask CBJ directly, "Would you take my commitment today"? If the answer is yes, the kid should feel very good about where he stands. If the answer is no, kid knows he is a backup plan option and his "offer" is not worth much.

Would the staff take a commitment from Gentry or Gibson right now? I would imagine they would at least 1 of them. Of course as fans, we don't really know. Both could try to commit and all a sudden news comes out both are being slow played. Recruiting can be crazy.

I was actually being sarcastic

He's right. But, I don't think TG would not go to UT for the reason we getting our azz beat by OU. I think anyone with sense knows OU is simply a better football team right now.

I agree and it's narrow minded to think that one game is going to completely alter a guy's decision about where to spend the next three or four years. That's just a fan running his mouth. I also think that Sooner fans have way too high an opinion of themselves over the Bama victory. Bama was still deflated from the Auburn loss and I don't think their heart was in that game. Still a good victory but let's not forget Oklahoma's loss to Texas last year either.

Beat they azz Vols! This is the SEC... take no lip from no Sooner.

From what I saw there was only one guy repeatedly giving us respect for what we have accomplished in recruiting since Butch Jones came to town. He warned his own fan-base that we are "LOADED" with talent from the last recruiting cycle and will surprise a lot of people, including OK, if they think they can walk over us.

They won't walk over us, FWIW. I'm not delusional, but I think it's possible we go into Norman with confidence, make some plays we couldn't have last year, and walk out of there with a W. GBO~

Were stihl talking about this?
