Honestly, even though Gentry may be my favorite qb target, I'm having trouble getting really excited about any of those 3. All have low completion percentages, below 60% (Jennings below 50% I believe) and Gibson was rated a 4 out of 10 on 247 for his accuracy. Not to mention he struggled at that one camp and moved from qb to receiver at said camp. Tremendous athlete, throws a good ball, and has the release of a qb, not an athlete playing qb. Just has to be able to put it on the money more consistently.

As for Gentry, about 56% completion percentage playing against New Mexico competition is pretty underwhelming. I know there are other factors, like him throwing downfield a lot and getting terrible blocking, but still. I'd really like to see a big improvement this year for him. Especially if he chooses to be a Vol.

Wanna guess what Peyton's completion % was when he left high school? 59%

Prove that Gibson is. Provide a quote from CBJ that says otherwise.

But you won't, cuz it's a violation.

Therefore, VQ gets 95% of the inside info. And they say Gentry is #1

I wasn't saying Gibson is. I honestly don't know who CBJ has #1 and don't care. If it's Gentry I am :dance2:. If it's Gibson I am :dance2:. I think they are both studs who will be stars in our offense. Bring em on!

From what I saw there was only one guy repeatedly giving us respect for what we have accomplished in recruiting since Butch Jones came to town. He warned his own fan-base that we are "LOADED" with talent from the last recruiting cycle and will surprise a lot of people, including OK, if they think they can walk over us.

They won't walk over us, FWIW. I'm not delusional, but I think it's possible we go into Norman with confidence, make some plays we couldn't have last year, and walk out of there with a W. GBO~

Agree 100%. I'm not delusional, but anything can happen. Last year could have been way better than it was if you look at GA, FL, and Vandy games. I was proud of scoring first against Oregon too. That said a lot. I'm excited this year.

Just wait till we drop some bombs downfield with North, Malone, Pearson, Croom, maybe some Alton "Pig" Howard! Owho won't know what hit em.

Our success this year all depends on our Oline! If they over perform, we could have an 8-9 win season. If we under perform, 6 wins would be an amazing season.

If we win 9, go ahead and put Butch as the Coach of the year

We will not win less than 5 games.. Give me a freakin break.. I don't care how young we are.

I don't think that will happen but in a division where games are won in the trenches, we have a LOT of new faces starting on both sides which concerns me.

They're still experienced, for the most part.

Like I said, they'll be as good enough for a lower bowl team.

LOL, cmon man, 95%? I doubt our coaches share more than 50% of our gameplan with anyone, including the Volquest guys. You never show your cards in poker, lots of bluffing going on. Just something to consider before you label VQ nearly 100% correct on everything.

Exactly. You can never truly judge a high school QB based on his stats without watching the game film first. You have to remember that they can only play with the guys on the team around them, and HS WRs will drop more balls/run more wrong routes, etc. than D1 wideouts. Any completion % over 50% is actually pretty damn good for a high school quarterback.

I thought he meant volquest gets 95 percent of what is given out by the coaches.
Not that the coaches give out 95 percent of all of the information that they have (which would be nearly everything), except the last 5 percent.

Holy different era Batman...dialing back to when most QBs played basketball and baseball instead of camping...why not reference Unitas's percentage?

I don't see how the fact that kids nowadays spend their summers running and jumping in shorts and underarmour shirts and being generally overanalyzed and whored out by ESPN changes the fact that Peyton didn't complete 60% of his passes in high school.

Worley had an amazing completion percentage in high school. In college, he's been somewhat meh in the accuracy department.

The point stands that completion percentage for high school QBs isn't exactly the end all e all of judging a prospect.

This was also before most high schools adopted the quick passing concepts of the west coast/air raid system. There's so many wr screens thrown today that completion percentage is irrelevant.

I am not saying he will be like Peyton. Just that you cannot read too much into high school stats to gauge success at the collegiate level. Completing over 50% of your passes is still good for a high school QB. Plus accuracy can be taught and improved upon.

I really don't see why we are quibbling over elite QBs. Both Gibson and Gentry are studs and we should be very happy both of these guys have us in their tops. Whichever one commits will be making me do the mega-boom-shakalaka-holy-crap-on-a-cracker-we-got-a-truly-elite-QB dance. #Iamexcitedashell

You don't see the difference in throwing year round vs playing other sports in their seasons? You think some of these kids hovering around 70% were just better prepared than PEYTON MANNING was in high school and he just got better in college?
