'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

You made you're determination by predetermining it in your mind that he doesnt have the tools to play QB and based off of social media. When in fact, he has all of the physical attributes. The rest can be taught and might not be that much of a transition for him.

Saw him throw on film...throws like a girl...which is an insult to girls :glare:

The mental tools are more important than physical tools unfortunately. We just had a discussion about Brays lack of them. If you put yourself out there for everyone to see, you get judged. Fortune 500 companies do this all the time with social media.

Torrance can mature like PW has, and I'd be the first to applaud him.

My biggest concern is that he only threw 10 passes in a championship game. It's not a large enough sample for his ability. He also only throws two kinds of passes. If he could throw a route tress, then he'd do it in games.

Im not sure u understand how high school ball works. Coaches find a niche and stick with it until it doesn't work. They won a state championship so im guessing it worked just fine. You run the play that is called. When the called pass plays, he showed the ability to find the open guy and make throws.

As far as the mental tools go. You have no idea what you're talking about because you aren't close to him in any sort of way. Most high school dont go into the intricacies of a college playbook. You might as well say riley cant play either because he mainly just rolled out and bombed it.

It's not like I haven't watched football for my whole life and seen kids like this. Riley showed he could throw a route tree. Torrance hasn't. Riley also threw more than 10-15 passes a game.

He's not going to play for 3 years. He's not an instant impact QB unless you love picks. There are other refined QBs like Waller and Gentry that I would rather have. Sorry for disagreeing.

I like both Gentry and Gibson. If I did like one more than the other, though, I wouldn't go up in the thread of the other fellow and spam about how much I think someone else is better. It's poor etiquette.

Its all based on the system ur in. You act like the term route tree is the end all be all for a QB. All it is is a damn diagram of the routes. Riley did what his coach told him to do. Torrance is doing the same thing. You take who u can get out of the group of big QBs. You don't say, "But Mommy I wanted Gentry because he can throw a route tree."

Im 5'8" and I can throw every route on that tree except a comeback. Im sure someone as physically gifted as Torrance will be just fine. What I do know is he won a state championship in one of the best states for football in the country. Which means faster defenses, better tackling defenses, etc. Yet he still managed to flourish.

FTR, I have no problem with taking Gentry but Torrance is just as good, and may end up better.

The only other legitimate shot we have at a QB is Nunez IMO

I would suggest guys like you and Madkins play one down of football past pop warner level before deeming yourselves experts on the subject.

Ah the ole "play past pop warner" insult, definitely a classic.

Btw - make sure to shave your wool before summer gets here, it'll get hot under that stuff.

Are we still in good shape for Nunez? I thought he was a strong SC lean. I think we are still in it for Walker.

Ah, the ole I bring nothing to the table other than regurgitated sheep insults. Truth is I'm not slurping on another poster's opinion. I'm making my own. So it would seem to me if anyone is being baaaaaaddd at forming their own opinion, it's the long haired hippie in the mirror staring back at you.

You started it lol :)

Anyhoo, ok to disagree...keeps things interesting imo. GBO

I'm with ya. It's the offseason. No recent commitments generally equals talking about imaginary games that never happened 13 years ago. :hi: On another note, I'm sure we can both agree on and it's more related to the thread, I'm hoping Butch can land either Gentry or Gibson to give us that high level QB we need to properly utilize all of these skill guys we are landing.

I'm with you 1000% on that. I don't see why we won't start landing these elite QBs with the WRs we are accumulating. Dis gon' be good...

Dont knoe to be honest. Last I heard we were in the thick of things but u probably know more than me about that.....

I just dont think we're gonna pull any of those Cali QBs. I hope we do, just dont think it will happen.

Casey Clausen's best performances.

Against Bama as a freshman in his first start. Two td's in a season saving win.
Set or tied school & league records as a frosh against UK & the Hogs.
At Bama as a sophomore & senior. Both wins.
At Florida as a sophomore & senior. Both wins.

Tyler Bray's beat performances.

Against Ole Miss, Georgia State, Cincinnati & Akron. Largely meaningless games.

Hard to argue Bray over Casey. Except arm talent. But being a lifeless quitter far outweighs any attribute that TB possessed, and the results on the field speak for themselves.

You can't blame Dooley for Bray shortcomings, unless you give Fulmer credit for Clausen did, which no one has thus far. You can't have it both ways.

How many UT QBs have beaten Bama and UF a combined 5 or more times?
