The 2001 Miami team was the most talented team in CFB history. Anyone trying to "out-athlete" them would have been beaten by 4+ TD's. They won their final 2 regular season home games against Top 15 teams by a score of 124-7.

Dorsey, Najeh Davenport, Clinton Portis, Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow, Andre Johnson, Daryl Jones, Frank Gore, and Willis McGahee made up their offensive skill unit. Not to mention a pair of 1st team all american OT's.

Ed Reed, Jonathan Vilma, Phillip Buchanon, and Jerome McDougle led the defense.

If their coach wasn't Coker, they would have been the unanimous CFB GOAT.

Your opinion with no substantial way of proving it. You could site NFL draft picks which is great, but there have been countless games in CFB history in which the 'better team' doesn't always win. I know this probably escapes you, but football is a team game and isn't played on an X box.

Tennessee's team had beaten #2 Florida at the Swamp by running the ball down their throat. The same issue that FSU and Miami has had over the years against SEC teams with smaller speed defenses. Tennessee had a 3 headed monster at WR in Stallworth, Kelley Washington, and Witten, meaning that no double teams could be used to shut down one guy. UT had 2 beasts at DT in John Henderson and Albert Haynesworth, which meant it would be very difficult to establish a running game vs. the Vols that year.

Na, I stand by my statement. With any kind of coaching, Tennessee could have won a national title that year. Not to mention, I remember in 1985 when Tennessee beat a superior Miami team with back ups at skill positions. So you overexaggerating doesn't add to the other posters point or take away from mine. I'm sure you and some of your drunk buddies probably rubbed one out to Miami's greatness that year, but if it wasn't for a dropped pass in the end zone against the Hokies the so called 'greatest team' ever wouldn't have even been in the championship game.

Stick to Volquest where they actually believe that tripe you spew.

You took it upon yourself to make our TG comments racist. I made my determination by looking at the film and stats.
Byron Leftwich was one of my favorite QBs ever because he played with his leg snapped. He's darker than the night. He was also extremely slow and threw far.

I would like to see Gibson throw more and run less. Otherwise, Auburn would be the only place he wouldn't sit for a long time.

You made you're determination by predetermining it in your mind that he doesnt have the tools to play QB and based off of social media. When in fact, he has all of the physical attributes. The rest can be taught and might not be that much of a transition for him.

The mental tools are more important than physical tools unfortunately. We just had a discussion about Brays lack of them. If you put yourself out there for everyone to see, you get judged. Fortune 500 companies do this all the time with social media.

Torrance can mature like PW has, and I'd be the first to applaud him.

My biggest concern is that he only threw 10 passes in a championship game. It's not a large enough sample for his ability. He also only throws two kinds of passes. If he could throw a route tress, then he'd do it in games.

Yea he was 9 of 10 in that game, and ran for almost 200 yards. Oh, and btw they did win. Maybe he took what the D gave him? Or would that be to smart for him?

If Butch is confident enough in Gibson's passing game, then I'll trust Butch. I'm just excited that we have some excellent RBs, with more excellent RBs on the way, as well as amazing WRs, with more on the way. I don't think a purely dual-threat QB is absolutely necessary for what we've got going on, but it couldn't hurt. And Gibson's State Champ stats don't really mean much to me. If they figured out that the defense was ridiculously vulnerable to the run, by all means exploit it.

If only Jalen Hurd wasn't too tall. He belongs on D. /sarcasm

Boise St Vs. Oklahoma

This has a strong feeling of Jackson going on.
When he commits to tOSU I wont be surprised.

The only thing that leaves me scratching my head is the fact that an elite QB hasnt ran to Butch with everything we have at the skill positions one would think at least one would pull the trigger.

Agreed. I think there might be some hesitation just because of our team history for the last few years. I think things will happen much quicker after we have a winning season this fall.

I think so too, and I really hope we get to the turning point this fall. I thought for sure last season was it for us even with the Major win against USCe. It seemed like we let some get away, ie Florida. Some of you may disagree with me about Florida but I really think we let that one slip.

If we solidify both lines I fully expect a field general to come running. Especially if Von decides to stick around. thats a different topic for a different day however.

Butch would be a fool to tell Gibson no simply because he had a few mistakes. We arent in any position to say No. IMO.

I definitely thought Florida was winnable especially after Driscoll was out. I felt like we won against Georgia too.

Why can we all just be friends?

Well I guess if that's not possible - why don't we just trust the coaches and their trained eyes. It is not a stretch to say that Gibson needs no help when it comes to running the ball and will need development with the passing game as most dual threat QBs do. To state that he is an accomplished passer would be just wrong. Doesn't mean he cannot be developed into one. If he is our QB, Jake will design the scheme and play call to fit his skillset as he develops If it is Gentry, it will fit his skillset.

Completely agree about the 2001 Vols. IMO they were a better team than the 98 Vols. Best Vol team I grew up watching

I was upset when we lost to Florida. I was sick Georgia won. It just proves we are closer than some fans believe we are. A few breaks go our way and things are different. Cant live in the past though. I have full trust in Butch. August cant get here fast enough.

Simply not possible...

I was there for the Georgia game this past season. It was the loudest I've heard it since we beat Florida in 2004.
