I've always thought the debate about dual-threat QBs was way, way overblown. This is high-level college football, people. You don't get to be a D1 athlete in the SEC by not being able to run 10-15 yards for a first down. No one is gonna remember Aaron Murray for being a track star - but you can be pretty damn sure they'll remember when he took off for a long run through the middle of our defense to convert that crucial 3rd and long. It's not that hard. Even Justin Worley doesn't look half bad when he actually decides to keep it on the option.

Maybe in highschool, but not this league.. Not every qb in the SEC is able to get those yards on the ground when they need to.. That's why the demand for the DT qbs is going up.

Gibson plays against the best high school competition there is and absolutely produces. I am not sure how Gentry would look against the same level of competition.

I don't believe anyone could reasonably compare the two.

I hope they get him :eek:k:

It's difficult for me to fathom a UT football fan stating that they hope one of the most talented, sought after QB/ATH in the nation signs elsewhere.

Especially considering the sub-par QB play UT has had the last 5+ seasons.

Imo we get Gentry and one of Jennings or Gibson. Likely Jennings. It would be a miracle to get all 3

Why is Gentry, according to VQ and scout, our #1 target?

That is all good and well. Other sources have said its TG. Either way why would some one not want us to get one of the best qbs and an elite athlete? If Gentry is so great and we get both he will win out. If he decommits because we get what every service believes is the better qb he doesn't have the heart anyway.

I don't think he's the most....whatever else you just said?...and as long as Butch keeps relying on my talent evaluations...gonna keep on keeping on :yess:

I can understand why he feels that way. At all the camps hes been to, he has had trouble throwing the ball and moved to WR. If you watch his highlight film, about 75% of the plays are him running the ball. And a large percentage of his passes were screens. Since we have had sub par QB play, you want to make sure you get someone who has a great and consistent arm. Gibson is more of a threat with his feet. His completion % was just over 50% and it seems like most were screens. Hes a great athlete and I hope we get him, but I can see the concern

It's difficult for me to fathom a UT football fan cannot notice by looking at film that Gentry is a better passer than Gibson.

Gentry is a much better fit for the offense. Bigger arm, more accurate and Gentry can move. Gentry is an elite passer. Gibson is not.

Watch the film. 3/4 of Gibson's passes are screens.

Jennings is a Vol officially on April 7th. UT will obviously continue to recruit both Gentry & Gibson at that point and accept commitments from either. I'm not sure UT will end up with either though. UT landing one of either Gentry or Gibson is a very realistic possibility. UT landing both Gentry & Gibson with Jennings already in the fold has a 0% chance of happening, IMO.
