'15 FL QB/WR/DB (anything he wants) Torrance Gibson

For those of us who have favored Gibson on our QB short-list, him repping at WR is a headscratcher. Go back and watch his film again, he is an absolute boss at QB. The analogy to Deshaun Watson a few posts ago is spot on. I really wonder what is behind this position change.

This is true. A left handed throw just never looks as smooth as a right handed. Maybe it's just me.

Micheal Vick in his prime probably threw the prettiest passes I've ever seen, they just didn't always go where they were supposed to. Peyton Manning, by contrast, throws wobbly ducks with pinpoint accuracy.

Of course, the ugliest passer of all time has got to be Tebow, who was a lefty. Maybe that's what is fueling your prejudice against left-handed quarterbacks.

The analogy to Watson is not accurate.

His "film" is a highlight tape. It shows his HIGHlights...not his LOWlights. The reality is that he only completed 50-something percent of his passes last year....but you aren't going to see that in his "film" which only shows his best passes.

Gibson has 5-star upside at QB but he is nowhere near there yet. His best bet is going somewhere where he can take a few years to develop if he really wants to play QB. His exposure to the position is minimal.

I wasn't comparing them skills wise...more the hype/rep ratio...And the comparable shock if that highly regarded a QB prospect had been asked to take reps at WR this time last year.

Your issue is that his highlight film, like every other HS player's highlight film, doesn't show every play? Okayyyy. So we don't get to see the plays where his receivers ran bad routes or dropped balls. Gotcha.

I stand by my statement. I like his film better than Gentry's, although Gentry's is nothing to sneeze at. And I wasn't making a direct comparison to Deshaun Watson, I was saying the analogy is correct. Gibson is the #1 rated DT QB this year. That analogizes toWatson from last year.

Oh yeah, Tebow definitely takes the cake for ugly passing mechanics. Even out of the ranks of professionals, just some of my buddies who are lefties still have an ugly motion.

Also, Peyton hasn't always thrown ducks has he? I thought that was more about his arm strength giving out rather than his motion.

You asked a question and I answered it.

You can make any below-average QB look "good" in a tape of his best plays. This isn't a knock on Gibson, it is the reality to his situation. He has not been playing QB long, he is very inexperienced. Rivals didn't even list him as a QB until their most recent round of profile updates. The comparison to Watson doesn't make sense because Watson was a much more developed QB at the same stage...he wasn't a tall WR with a good arm who is trying to learn to play QB, which is essentially what you are looking at with Gibson.

Just because they are "ranked similarly", doesn't mean there is a valid comparison between them. Gibson's ranking is 90% upside...the kid that will end up at A&M (Kyler Murray) is a much better QB right now.

Gibson is not in Watsons league. As a runner maybe, however as a pure passer no way. Gibson is not that gifted as a pure passer. Gentry looks to be a much better passer.

Very raw as a passer much like Jacory Harris, Star Jackson and Jennings(LSU) coming out. I think Luke has an ax to grind with TG. Reminds me of him doggin Deon Bush after each 7 on 7.

"5-star QB Torrance Gibson said main schools sticking out are Ohio State, Miami and Tennessee. He's going to visit LSU, Oklahoma and Ohio State during his Spring Break. Wants an Oregon offer. We will have a lengthy video interview up with him this afternoon."

5-star QB @quick_tg6 says he's big on #OhioState, #Miami, #Tennessee. Spring visits on deck. #MiamiNFTC Live at the Miami Nike Camp … @jcshurburtt

Not sure if Tennessee is included for twitter followers or legitimate interest...

This guy might end up like Russell Shepard did at lsu. I remember thinking it was odd for a 5 star qb to be moved to wr when lsu's qbs were so horrible.

One of the guys covering the Mia 7 on 7 said the best WR at event is throwing incomplete after incomplete

Who the hell has him ranked as the #1 Pro-Style QB above Josh Rosen?

Kid is a phenomenal athlete. Doubt he'll be slinging the ball in college. WR is more likely.

I would guess twitter followers. Has he even visited UT? I did not see it saying he has or has anything planned on 247.

I saw where he has trips planned to lsu, ou, osu, and the canes. UT is supposed to be in his top 3 yet he makes trips to lsu and ou and can't find time to see Knoxville?

Supposedly going to "try" and visit for the O&W game. I really couldn't care less if he does. I'm hoping by that time Gentry is on board.

Though I still prefer Gentry as a prospect, I could see where the staff are coming from on this. They may believe they do have the time to develop him as a QB. Consider this: By 2015, Worley will be gone, but one of either Dobbs or Ferguson will certainly have locked up the starting job. If Dobbs, that's 2 years to develop TG (Dobbs isn't likely to leave school early for the NFL). If Ferg, that's 3 years because of his redshirt season. So the developmental time would be there.
