Worley is gone after this year which leaves 3. After this year, one of the remaining 3 of Dobbs, Fergy, Peterman is definitely transferringout. I understand that these guys are probably competitive and believe they can win the job but one of them has to see the writing after it all plays out this year. We need to take 2 QBs

Or no one decides to transfer out as they enjoy being a Vol? It does happen. Worley is done after this season. Going into the 2015 season there is Dobbs, Ferguson, Peterman, Jennings, and about 4-5 walk-ons. If injuries or whatever have you down to your #3 or #4 guy, your season is usually screwed anyway. IMO we would be fine. Later this year if someone did decide to transfer, then maybe the staff decides to take another QB. They could also consider transfers from other schools or whatever later in the year IF needed. I would seriously lose zero sleep if they took just Jennings at QB in 2015.

I can't believe you keep saying this the way you do, based on the quotes you read that are leading you to say it. You're implying that UT MAY get Gibson BECAUSE those two schools are backing off. The quotes stated that those two schools MAY start going in a different direction BECAUSE UT has the lead. It couldn't be more obvious that your low opinion of Gibson is completely skewing your ability to think about any part of his recruitment with the slightest inkling of objectivity.

I would be perfectly okay with just taking Jennings too but there is no reason for our staff to cool on Gibson as a QB because of numbers. If Gibson wants to be a vol then he should be and we should recruit him as hard as anyone out there.

I get that a lot of folks on here still are sold on this class being 25, most know I am not. I look at it like this. Does taking 2 QBs now make sense if it costs us a DJ Jones or a Jaason Lewis 4 months from now? It does not for me. Yes, I know there is the "take them all" crowd. The fact is that is not always the case as we have already seen playing out this year. "Harrell is going to announce, it's got to be the Vols". Or.....maybe not. "Johnson is about to commit to Tennessee"! Oh, I meant clemson as UT passed on him. A lot of people swore we would see 4-5 commitments leading into the strong game. Yeah, not so much. IMO this class is not playing out like a lot of fans thought it was going to thus far.

The class size should always play into who is a take and who is not.

I would take TG over Jaason any day of the week. Hes between positions more so than Gibson and less of an athlete.

It's simple math. At some point you just run out of spots. UT is in no position to take a class based on "best available" and not worry about the position the kid plays. They need a certain # of WRs, LBs, DTs and so on. I just don't see 2 QBs as a good play and it causes us to take 1 less at another position. Numbers are tight at every position this year.

Obviously he has a numbers plan. People on this very board expected 4-5 commitments over the last 30 days or so. IMO it's clear the numbers and or lack thereof have prevented that.

Maybe cbj thinks he's worth a spot. Maybe he gets on campus and suddenly fills a wr spot after a week of him "getting a shot at qb" and our wr duo is Gibson and Williams (elite athletes). I understand your concerns but give the staff some credit.

Why not? We probably don't have to sign a large number of dline, rb's, wr's, or lbs this season, so we can sign 2 qbs. Especially with both being labeled athletes. Let the loser move to safety or wr. Win win.

Plus CBJ made it clear when he got here that he wanted to keep more than 3 scholarship qbs at a time.

With Worley gone and another probably transferring out, it makes sense to take two this year.

I understand that a lot of people on here think the kid is a sure thing. Obviously there are some that don't. Much the same way you feel CBJ would take him in a second, I'm not sold. I've been wrong before. Those claiming TG is a take for osu, au, or UT any day he wants to commit is just speculating. I am doing the same in saying IMO the kid is not a take.

And for the record most know I would not have taken him before all the school suspension, booted off the football team, teammates hate him, blah, blah stuff. Just another reason why I would pass.
